For tax puropse you have no dependents. This causes more tax to be with held.

bostonianinmo
It means that you either claimed 0 withholding allowances on your Form W-4 when you started the job or you never filed a Form W-4 with your employer.

You may or may not have dependents, it only reflects what you put on the W-4.

This is what you requested to be deducted when you filled out your W-4 at the beginning of the year. Make sure that you check it yearly to be sure you are claiming or not claiming correctly. Currently you are claiming no dependents.

Gypsydayne
That means that you're not claiming any dependants- including yourself. Your taxes are taken out according to the amount of your pay & how many dependents you have. This is a good thing if you don't have any dependants because you'll get more in your refund at the end of the year. Just make sure that when you get your taxes done that you do claim yourself, but keep the exemptions at 0 with your company.

Paladin
It means you are having the maximun income taxes withheld. If you end up with a huge refund when you file your taxes next year, have them change it to 1 so that your withholding will be closer to your actual taxes in the future.

bakfanlin
You haven't claimed any exemptions. No little deductibles running around... like kids.
Or even yourself.

tonyperkinson
Indeed, it means you have no independents, and more tax is being withheld. But, it means you will probably have a big tax return at the end of the year. If you claim any exemptions, you get more per paycheck, but a smaller return.

I'm pretty sure it means you have no dependents, i.e kids or whatever.

it means u claimed no dependents(meaning no children) if you have children I would still claim zero,, That way at the end of the year you can get more back on your income taxes.

Most hard pressed taxpayers want and deserve some exemptions. Bring your tax stub to your human resources, explain your situation and you should get some. You can demand no with-holdings but it could hurt you on 4/15/0x. You could see a tax CPA for advice on this issue. the best answer based on technical information and requires detail unique to you and your situation.

With some exemptions, your take home pay will increase and like most people you could use the extra cash flow. Unless your mom and dad claim you, you should have at least one exemption if not two.
