It's not so much what you can do as what you should have done, and in retrospect that is probably very obvious to you. |

You are paying over half of your pay for taxes and child support. A lot of families with children are in the same situation.
I do not think an attorney could do anything for you, if your child support and tax obligations are legitimate. You could take your tax returns that resulted in the assessments to a professional tax preparer for review, to see if your returns are done correctly. If there are additional credits or deductions you could have taken in 2004, 2005, or 2006, you may be able to amend your returns and reduce what you owe.
Otherwise, you just have to increase your income (a new or second job for you or your spouse), or decrease your expenses, and tough it out. |

Try legal aide for an attorney. They might supply one for you. |

A lot of us found a way to supplement our income by working from home #1, so that our check can't be garnished so we can live. Sorry for your troubles. Jennifer |

i would get a lawyer, google the ABA , American Bar Association. search for pro bono attorneys.
the IRS payment seems to high / but the government always figures out "legal' ways to get their money first. lol. I'd rather owe the mob than the government.
250 does not seem like a lot of child support. i'm sure the mom is paying out more money .
The IRS payment seems too high. I would think that a lawyer could help you get that reduced. You will have to pay interest longer but you need the money now.
You can increase your withholdings on your paycheck from your employer and have them take zero money out of what you pay weekly. You will owe the money in April but you do not have to let them use your money until it's due. Nothing wrong with that.
I think you need to look for a personal loan to maybe settle the IRS debt ? You can probably offer less ?
Think of a second job for awhile until you get ahead. Get promoted / look for a better paying position. |

chalk it up as a learning lesson, and just count down the days when it will all be paid off,
and keep looking for better employment opportunity's. |

first of all not many people realize that 1040 form is optional, and they chose to pay thier "taxes". and they are threatened with "title 26" in reality people are fooled to pay, and now they threaten u or put u in jail if u don't pay. well good luck. yes there will be ignorant people who disagree with me, because they are fooled by the govt to pay income taxes so we can pay our teachers and we can build roads. well i never seen income taxes pay teacher or building roads... cough cough tobbacco alchohol and various taxes. income - strictly war money and bribbery to politicians |

You owe the IRS? Did you not pay a couple of years or something? To start with-quit whining. You have a child to take care of weather you are with the mother or not. You chose to have more kids with new wife it sounds like. Maybe you need to get an education grant to boost your income with a better paying job. To be honest, I have no sympathy for men who are divorced or not with the mother and have children to take care. It is your reponsibility to care for your child. |

visit IRS website: irs.gov and download form 433-F, Collection Information Statement, complete and have all requested information requested on form available all, also download form 433-D Collection Installment Agreement Request and have a payment proposal on form to give the phone assistor. Call 1-800-829-7650 or 1-800-829-3903 and tell them you can't afford the amount that is being garnished from your check and you are requesting lower payment be reasonable with your payment proposal. IRS gives you up to 60 months to full pay your total balance due, if it is below $25,000.00.
Good luck!
Child support should not be lower, you should keep that amount. what makes you think that the child support you are paying is enough to provide food, shelter and clothing for the child. |

I am unclear as to exactly what your overall problem is. Who has a garnishment on your paycheck? If you are having $250 withheld for child support as the result of a court order, you deserve no sympathy. You have to support your children whether or not they live with you. How much are you spending on the ones who live with you? Judgment creditors can get 25% of takehome pay beyond 30 hours per week at the federal minimum wage with a garnishment. IRS can get a variable amount based on your return filing status and number of exemptions. If you are making $2,400 per month and have a $250 child support obligation IRS may grant you a hardship deferral if you call and make peace. |
