My paychecks from 2007 has Federal Withholdings - When am I eligible to receive this money back?

You should have filed your tax return for 2007 on or before April 15 of 2008. When you filed that return, you would have found out how much, if any, of your withholdings you were getting back. (Perhaps you owed taxes and were not entitled to any refund.)

If you didn't file your taxes when they were due, that would explain why you don't know if or when you got (or should have gotten) a refund. You'd better get yourself a 2008 Form 1040 and fill it out. It's not too late to turn it in.

If you are in reference to 2007 then you should already have filed a return for 07. If you are in reference to the year we are in of 2008 then you can file after the first of year when you get your W-2 form.

Next year you should receive your W-2(s) reporting your earnings and the taxes withheld. Fill out the Tax Return; submit it on time, and you might get SOME of that money back.

Wait, if the tax was withheld in 2007, you were supposed to file LAST year to get any of that money back. Check with the IRS about what happened and how you can file an amended return.

You get it back - IF you are due a refund - by filing your 2007 tax return. Have you done that?

You should have filed your tax return for 2007 by now. When you do your tax return, you calculate the amount of your refund. After you file your return, the government issues your refund. In short, you have to file an income tax return to get any refund owed to you.

Eugene D
You must file a 2007 tax return. You can get forms from the IRS or any Tax Service.

When you file your tax return in early 2009, if the tax that was withheld is more than your tax liability, you'll get the extra back.

Alec
In 2008 you shouldd have filed a return on your 2007 wages. Apparently you did not. You may now file an "amended" or "late" 2007 return, but if not a pro, get help from one!

Star Gazer
Those are estimated taxes. You dont get them back persay.

Bill
when you retire, or next tax year if you paid in to much

When you file your taxes in 2009. If you get it done as soon as you can you will have your money soon.
