My previous employer didnt send me my W-2?
i have 2 previous employers(fridays, javas)whom i did not get my W-2 from. is there a way to report to the IRS and have them make them send me my forms? i dont want to call Java's up, but i would make the phone call to TGI. but i just want to know if the IRS can do it for me?

Employers must mail W2 by Feb 2, 2007. If you do not receive it by Feb 15, then you can call IRS.

You may be able to file without W2. However, you should wait till you get all the Forms like W2s and 1099s. If you file based on last pay slip, you may have to file amended tax return if there is any different figure in W2 or 1099.

They don't have to get them in the mail until Feb 2nd this year. Allow at least 3 or 4 days past that before contacting them. If you still don't have it by Feb 15th then you may call the IRS and file a missing W-2 complaint.

W-2 forms are not required to be forwarded until January 31. You won't get anywhere before early February.

Classy Granny
Your getting in to big a hurry. They have until January 31st to get them to you.

If you don't get them by 2/15, yes you can call the IRS and they'll work with you to get them. But they aren't even due out yet.

Good God, they're not even late yet. Get a grip. Do they have your correct mailing address? It's YOUR responsibility to notify them of that.

Your employers still have a bit of time to mail you your 2008
W2 forms. Generally employers have until January 31st to put
your forms in the mail to you; however since 1/31/09 is a Satur-
day, they need to mail them by 2/2/09 to be legally compliant.
If you do not receive your forms by the end of the 1st week in
February, call the employers and make sure they have your
correct address. If you do not receive the forms by 2/15, then
you can prepare a substitute W2 form using your last pay stubs-
but not before February 15th because the IRS will not accept
this form any earlier.

They have until the 31st of January to get your W-2 to you. You should contact them and make sure they have your current and correct address. If you have your final paystub with info on from them you can always use a substitute W-2 to provide the information the IRS needs to contact them.
