YES. He is your "qualifying child" and the requirements are as follows: he is your child, he was under 19 at the end of 2007, did not provide more than half his own support and lived with you more than half of the tax year. Please ignore the no answers - I'm a tax preparer. What you should also know is that when he files his own taxes he must check the box that he is the dependent of another taxpayer. It means he can't claim his own exeption (which reduces a persons taxable income by 3400). Even if you chose to not claim him, he is not entitled to his own exemption so don't waste it - use it and claim him. |

you can claim him under qualifying child if he is a fulltime student, lived with you for at least half year and you provide over half his support
you can claim him under the qualifying relative if he lived with you all year and did not make more than 3400 in income and you provided more than half his support
he will have to say in his taxes that he is being claimed as a dependent and will not be able to take his exemption |

If he didn't provide over half of his own support, you can still claim him. When he files his return, he will show on it that he can be claimed as a dependent, and won't take an exemption for himself. If he files a 1040EZ he does this by checking the "YOU" box on line 5. |

Depends on how much he made. Check your local tax legislation for the cap amount. |

Is he still in high school or college? Or did he graduate from high school in 2007? If yes to either, yes you can still claim him. If he remains in school until he is 24 you can continue to claim him as a dependent. |

The best way to be sure is to call the IRS help line at 800-829-1040. They will ask you questions to see if you're elligible-you don't have to give your name. They will give you an employee number so if you get called for an audit about this particular problem, you can reference the person you spoke with. |

Only if he made less than $6000.00 (I think is the #). He will still have to file his own taxes, but if you supported for more than half the year and he makes less that the set #, you can claim him. You cannot get any of the other child credits. And next year, you probably won't be able to claim him at all and you will not be able to claim head of household if he is the only child that allowed that exemption. |
