If you are able to file an original return prior to Oct 15th you should get the stimulus check this year. If it will take an amendment to correct this problem you will not receive a stimulus check in 2008 but rather get a credit for the amount you should have received in 2009 when you file the tax year 2008 return. |

If you already filed (which I believe you have), wait and see. Some fixes are being done automatically, but you may not receive the check until late November. There is no need to call.
If you *do* get the check, great. If not, there is a second chance worksheet on the 2008 tax return. |

Chances are that you are going to have to wait until next year. If you make enough in 2008 to owe any tax, you'll get a tax break on your 2008 return if you didn't get a stimulus check this year. |

you corrected your name with the Social Security Adminstration to match your with the IRS records, you didn't make changes to your social security number. With that said now you should:
Contact IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or visit your local IRS office how to proceed now that you name matches with the IRS and SS office. |
