call your HR department, they will give it to you. it's also known as a federal id number, and a tax id number. if you're doing state taxes, each state is a little different, our company's state id number is different than our fed id number. call your company, they'll help.

good luck!!

I'm not sure if it's on your pay stub. But if you call Human Resources they will have it, or the owner of the business.

You must have your W-2 in order to file your taxes electronically with the IRS. If you worked with the same employer in 2005, check your last w2. The EIN does not change.

Aunt Bee
Just give your employer a call and ask for their "Tax ID Number" it's the same thing, check it against the number with all the zeros and then you'll have your number.

Smart1
It's not likely that your employer would put their EIN number on the check stub. You should wait until you get your W2s for that part. Anyway, the IRS will not be processing returns until the 13th, until then you should not need it.

The federal employer ID number will generally be two digits, followed by a hyphen, and then seven digits. It will appear as

XX-XXXXXXX

For the state, the employer may have a different number that is issued by the state.

go to www.shaydzofluv.com for a free estimate and they can do it off of your last paystub and find your EIN number for you.

Did you have a contract with the same company last year? If so, look at last years 1099 or W2, maybe contact another employee who may have this info. Good Luck!

I file my taxes early every year. As a matter of fact, mine were filed on the 5th this year. Earliest ever. So #1 is obvious, look at last year's W-2 or ask your employer. Otherwise, go to www.freeerisa.com and scroll down a bit to click on Free EIN finder. You get to try 3 searches after signing up for free membership, but it should only take you one try to find your EIN.

Employer ID #'s used to be public info, available from Attorney General Listing of Business listed in State, but recently because of Fraud, they are as personal as a SSN
