Sorry, not for your 2007 taxes. Go ahead and get a Social Security Account Number so you will have for your 2008 income taxes when you file them in 2009. By the way the personal exemption will be worth $3,500 each for your 2008 taxes. |

If her birth certificate shows her date of birth as 2008, you can claim her next year. You can NOT claim her for 2007.

You'll have to wait until you file 2008 taxes before claiming her.
I don't think it's completely fair because of the money people spend preparing for a child but it's the law! |

Since it sounds like you had a New Year's Baby (Congratulations....) you will have to wait till you file your 2008 taxes next year to claim her. If she was born before midnight on December 31, 2007, then you can claim her but if she is a New Year's Baby...you just get to love her for the next year and use her for a deduction next year :o) |
