Okay about thousands of us are getting the refund status online "That you should have gotten your refund on 1/23/09 and that you should call if you haven't gotten it today 1/28" Well the GOOD NEWS is... that the system HAS processed your REFUND and INDEED it has BEEN DEPOSITED to the TREASURY DEPARTMENT take a NOTE... NOT TO YOUR BANK! This deposit will be RELEASED on JANUARY 30, 2009. Don't waste your time to call anymore, I was on hold for over 1 hour and I wanted to clarify this whole thing so I can share it to everyone. WAIT UNTIL THIS FRIDAY! and NO your refund DID NOT GET "TAKEN AWAY" or whatever those other foo's saying that it offset your refund from whatever you might OWE. FIRST OF ALL YOU WOULD have GOTTEN a DIFFERENT NOTICE on IRS WEBSITE if this was the case! SO PLEASE RELAX! YOU WILL GET YOUR REFUND ON the 30th. It's just 2 more days! Thank you for posting this! I was a little worried this morning, but figured I would get mine on the 30th as scheduled. Thanks for the info! I also got the 23rd deposit date and couldn't figure out why it wasn't there. I know my bank doesn't hold on to it that long.

Thanks for this info, I can stop worrying. To mama posse, its possible because even though the money was deposited, in is instructed that it cannot be released til Jan 30th. Most banks follow the release date of the IRS. Some people got their early because some banks will post a pending deposit for their customers- usually only credit unions do this. However many banks wait until the date the IRS said to release the funds. Same as a payroll. My job actually starts payroll for direct deposits two days before the paydate. I don’t get it til the paydate even though it starts 2 days before because my job indicates to make the funds available on a specific day. It’s a process, - and some banks post faster than others. |

Thank you, thank you, thank you - for posting this! I was wondering as I received the same message - "your refund was direct deposited, etc., etc., and I tried to call the IRS - was on hold for 20 minutes and hung up.
