I completely understand what you are saying and I feel for you. Most of the people I know where doing just fine 2 or 3 years ago, and now alot of things have changed and now they are stuggling.
And it had nothing to do with choices they made, then not sacrificing stuff or having kids. (please people she has 2 kids not 12) I have 2 kids and it is amazing things get paid. Just try to take things one week at a time.
I hear you on the gas too, I got some this morning and it was $3.70 a gallon. Just ridiculous. But I guess that is my fault for the choices I made and the kids I had. Some people are just jerks, don't let them get to you.
I wish you all the best. Good Luck |

Things are really tough right now I wish you all the best, and I agree don't listen to the negative people, it wouldn't matter what the subject is they are just going to put someone down, that is how they get through life.
If everything is so great in this economy which a few have hinted this is all our fault, why are most of the people getting this rebate check spending it on groceries, electric bill, gas for the car?
Maybe you can check out your state and see if you can get some help, around here that is useless unless you are willing to not work at all (that is what they said) Alot of people in my state have no issue, they pick up their check and run right to the package store, then stand on the street corner watching everyone else go to work. But yet they get free help.Something is clearly wrong with the system.
And just an added note they all have kids too, because you see them running in the street with no parents around. It is just sad that people that are willing to work everything has to be so tough. Oh but lets rush over to another country with people that have 10 kids each and help them out. I never understood that. |

I agree with Jen, the drug users are getting state help maybe we need to have drug testing before they pic up their checks, but people that work and need a little help can't get it.
And don't listen to the people saying this is your fault because you had kids. Funny I have a 2 1/2 year old and when he was born we were making about 85K combined and doing just fine, we BOTH got laid off a year later, our company company closed, actually thousands of people lost their jobs. How is that our fault Kathy S? So now our 85K has now been cut down to about 30K because there are just crappy jobs out there.
I agree on the day care too, I called a few weeks ago and they wanted $340.00 a week for one child. So who's fault is this? is that MY fault?
Don't listen to oh high and mighty people, I know at least 5 people right now that have lost their homes or will in the next 6 months, and these are all high paid people, college graduates, but they all lost their jobs, their hours were cut, expenses increased etc. But they were all doing just fine 2 years ago. |

I HEAR YOU! I live in Fla as well and it will cost me $300 a week to keep my kids in daycare starting next month. Right now I have a 3 month old and was blessed when my mother was able to keep her for a bit, I also have a 2 year old and she is in school/daycare on a MAJOR discount. I can't have them in the same place as most places will only take 1 yr and up! We rent, I'm not fond of buying idea...It is so expensive to live!!! We make ok money...I bring home 700 every 2 weeks and my hubby brings home 500. Some how...it isn't enough!!! Bills...credit cards...child support for his son...misc expenses like when a car breaks...car payments...insurance...FOOD and GAS!!! I just want to scream. By the grace of God we make it every month!! Where in Fla do you live? I wish I could help you! email me if you want... zofnas1231@yahoo.com. Good luck and God bless!! |

I hope every thing works out for you, your are not alone there are alot of people going through tough times.but i wish our goverment would help their own instead of helping people that don't want our help. Im so tired about hearing these presidential canidates bashing each other over stupid things while there are people losing there houses or giving up things because you cant afford gas or food for your family. Well my prayers are with you and your family. God Bless America!!!! |

I hear you I am from Mass and our daycare is $250 a week MIN and that is only for ONE child. And now the going rate for a basic job is about 500/week after taxes,(this is with experience like and Admin Asst job-other wise you are getting $8/hour) after the gas to commute after daycare you are left with MAYBE $100. I was just told the other day by a job that the companies aren't paying anymore because some many people are out of work so they don't need to, someone will take a 30k job for 20K NICE real Nice.
I was laid off from my mortgage job,my boyfriend was too the same day and we are trying to raise 2 kids, he did get a job but he MIGHT take home 350/week and the rent is $1400 (this is the lowest around here)it is just a mess. So you vent all you want to. I think some people don't think it is that bad out there, but for some really trying it gets tough.
The day care really kills you, I am thinking just getting a part time job at night, I would take home more and not have to pay $250 - 275/week for daycare. (some places charge up to $400)
Maybe we all need to write Mr Bush a letter and tell him how we feel, if he gets enough of them maybe he will realize something has to give. |

I know...its unreal. I am a single parent, and sometimes i have to go months without buying food, but i make "too" much to get any kind of assistance. Which i dont make A LOT...I make around 24,000 a year....
but the freakin drug users that live off the system get all kinda of assistance..go figure |

I understand you are suffering ... when I was first married I had to quit my job due to a difficult pregnancy. I was in and out of the hospital with no health insurance several times during the nine month. It was tough, tough times.
My husband took on two extra jobs before we got behind. He worked days at one job and nights at another during the week, and then did extra work during the weekend for another employer. It was hard on both of us. But we got by.
Sometimes life is simply really, really hard. You have to look at the choices you make (like having two babies) and then find ways to work through the hard times. Some of the ways involve lots of sacrifice and taking responsibility for your own situation. |

Kat, and anyone else in her shoes, please read the whole thing, not just the first few lines. I was a lot worse off than you are now.
Perhaps you should have made different decisions?
I don't want to get on your bad side, but you need to consider yourself responsible for your own life and decisions.
It is quite sad to think you blame a president, ANY president for the results of your choices.
It is not the responsibility of the government to make your life easier. If you would like your life to be easier you should have made different choices. Perhaps you could start taking steps to improve your situation. It won't happen overnight, but you can do so.
If your lifestyle is beyond your earnings, you need to either cut the lifestyle back or increase your earnings.
You didn't mention what you make, but your husband is earning about $20,800 per year. If you really want to improve your lives, someone needs to improve their earning potential.
With that level of income either or both of you could easily qualify for 100% financial aid for college. One of you needs to start NOW. Call NOW. Call University of Phoenix or any other school and start NOW. In two years you can have an asscoiates degree and earning double what you do now. Don't stop then, move on to the bachelors program and increase earnings further. And don't stop then, get your masters.
There is NOTHING stopping you but YOU.
And just an FYI, I did this after being laid off and going from 65k to zero here in Michigan, not the best outlook for jobs. I was in the process of a divorce at the time. I have custody of my 4 kids and was doing contract work when I could get it. Between the divorce and layoff I was forced into bankruptcy. I didn't blame Clinton for it. I lost everything. All I had was me and my kids. I was living in my mothers basement. Not where I saw myself at 35.
If you want to sit there and feel sorry for yourself go for it.
But instead why don't you lift YOURSELF up? Why don't you realize it is not Bush's, the Republican's or anybody else's fault that you are where you are. And NOBODY, not even a wonderful Democrat can help you.
It is up to YOU.
I went through this with my stupid nephew who got a girl pregnant and now is divorced with a 3yr old and no skills and no job and blaming Bush all the time.
I asked him: what are YOU doing to help yourself? He said he "planned on doing something about college next week"
I am telling YOU what I told HIM.
WHY NOT NOW?
Good luck. And stop blaming others for your situation. YOU did it, not them.
Now YOU go help YOU NOW NOW NOW!!!!
Ya know what...one more thing...
You folks need to stop and think. Forget the politics for a second. Who, really, is responsible for where you are right now? NO politician is going to make your lilfe any easier. And it is not any politicians job to, nor can they, make your life any easier.
You think it will be better if you got a little more in the way of handouts and entitlements?
I despise most democrats because they prey on ignorance. They have people thinking they NEED the democrats because they will GIVE them so much. All they are doing is giving you a way to FAIL. It would have been real eassy to blame Clinton for signing NAFTA which started the jobs heading out of MI big time. But I didn't. This is now a world economy.
I stopped, I thought, and I made myself better.
Please do the same, and good luck to all of you who are anywhere near where I was ten years ago. |

I don't want to be a thorn in your side but it was your choice to have children knowing that you guys don't make enough money to support a family of 4. How is it Bush's fault that you had children and can't afford daycare? |
