Thought I'd share...called IRS this am b/c still no paper check. Last digits 15, in SC, originally expecting direct deposit but had fees taken out for filing by Turbo Tax, rec'd 2nd letter last Monday the 19th. VERY nice customer service rep. stated that checks are mailed ON the date(May 23rd) given on the IRS website. She stated the letters were inaccurate and they were aware of the mistake. She also stated that the letters were "contracted" out to an outside agency and that she believed that may be the problem. Hopefully, this info. will help those of us still awaiting the mail. |

The dates that the IRS has listed on their website are mail dates, not receipt dates. Since Monday is a legal holiday, you may want to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday to see if you check has arrived. Good luck! |

Last 2 of SS# 10, received my letter on Monday saying it would be received by May 23rd. Website says "mailed by" after a 30 minute wait I ACTUALLY spoke to a very weary IRS agent who confirmed that it HAD been mailed to be received by today but will depend on that other oh so reliable branch of the government the USPS. Mailman hasn't been here yet. Still hoping! |

stop all this "read the fine print crap" and repeating what you see on the IRS website. it's a yes or no question. and my answer yes, social end is 16 and i got mine by mail on Friday 5/23 even though the website said the check was only supposed to be mailed by that date. Thank goodness it came just in time for me to pay my student loan bill. They could have just mailed it to the U.S. Dept. of Education for all the good it does me.
Anyway, oddly enough the check was also dated 5/23.
look, the bottom line is they are coming and if you are due one, you'll get it.
my best guess is that folk living closer to one of the big IRS centers that mails checks gets it sooner than others. For instance, checks for people in Louisiana, Texas and two or three other states are generated in Austin, Texas. As such taxpayers in Austin, Houston, etc. are getting them in a day or two while someone in Louisiana might have to waited four or five days before it's in their box. same goes for those serviced by the centers in Maryland or Kansas. |

Read the fine print; it says that checks will be mailed no later than the 23rd; which means you get your in the mail next week sometime. |
