We don't mind paying for things where we both need them and don't feel the money is wasted. We know it is the only way to pay for roads, armies or other things that are large and for everybody. But we don't like paying for things like buying things that cost 20 times as much because they don't shop or have too much paperwork. To buy anything they have to only use companies that are allowed to be vendors. The red tape even after you are an approved vendor is awful.
Our state wanted some ferries repaired and no shipyards would bid the work at all because of red tape.
Other things we don't want to pay for at all because we don't even want them and they are forced on us. We are getting light rail after voting it down and we voted down ball parks but they built them anyhow then we get the bill.
Another thing is fairness when the top 10% pay 70% of taxes it irks them.
Even with education, we believe in education but when we see how it is done it seems wasteful. I wonder if the kids are really learning math. My great nephew got 97% on a standardized math test but my guess is I wouldn't recognize the questions when I am pretty good at math. |

i don't mind, as long as i get nice roads and clean parks, good libraries, and responsive emergency services.
but then again, i'm single, so i don't have to worry too much about having enough money to feed kids and myself, pay the bills, and put enough away for savings/emergencies. |

I don't mind paying my share in taxes and wouldn't mind paying a slightly higher rate. But what I insist in is that I see vale for what I pay in. I want programs that benefit the public, not the big corporations |

You know all the pols promised no new taxes. That will prove to be
impossible. This country owes so much money now and keeps
borrowing more for all sorts of programs. Eventually we are going to have to pay some of it back.

Nobody LIKES paying taxes, but most people understand that a nation cannot operate unless someone pays the bills.
Taxes are a necessary evil, so to speak.
In a democracy, the people (through their representatives) collectively control how much tax is needed and what it is spent on. Governments are by the people, to borrow a phrase from the US, so it is us taxing ourselves, in effect.

I enjoy the fact that the government takes taxes out of my

It would even be better if someday they would take
