You may take your purchase back to any Wal-mart. Since you don't have a receipt you will get store credit, but no cash back.
I know b/c I purchase an item in one city and then ended finding out it was the wrong item, took it to the Walmart at another city and they refunded my money. It does have a sign at the customer service desk that if no receipt then you will receive store credit.
