I agree with you. I have been forced into the car to work by lousy public transport - which is government policy. Having forced me down this path, they are now squeezing me for every penny when I know full well they are wasting half of it. Then they tell me it is MY fault!
I would pack in driving tomorrow if I could, honestly.
And jerks telling me to use my two legs, like I have any choice in the matter (except to pack in work and go on the dole) don't help at all!
Cheers, Steve.

If you suggest reducing taxes ok, but I think you must also suggest what Government services you would want to have less of. Would you want fewer hospitals, or shabbier schools, cut pensions, or bring our troops back from Iraq/Afghanistan etc. etc. ?

A very good question, and often asked as far as the U.K. is concerned,Manchester proposal 5 pounds to enter the city, before we know it every city/ town will making charges for one thing or another. We all know that services have to be paid for ,but its getting out of hand where do's all the money go? , Now that would be a 20 pointer ANSWER !!!!!!

This present government's job seems to be thinking up more things for us to pay for everyday. It will be 10p in the slot at Pelican crossings if we want to cross the road soon.

We already pay "road fund licence" what is that supposed to cover? (Certainly does not fund the roads)

We all know that these schemes are just to earn money and justify it by caiming to be good for us all.

Those that don't want to drive in conjested parts of the cities stopped doing it long ago. If the rest are happy to drive in jammed city centres - let them.

These are all forms of tax used to fund government expenditure. If they don't take it from us one way, they will get it another.

What really annoys me though is the thousands of people employed just collecting these various taxes from us. If the tax system was simplified, fewer staff would be needed and it would save us all money.

No; it is perfectly fair. It is the tax that we pay for living in this country. We do not pay nearly enough; if we paid more then we could get things operating properly. Police, prisons, NHS and so on.

The people who try to collect it are desperately needed. It is a sad fact that some of those who are not on 100% PAYE do not pay everything that they should...

Marky
You're right. Schools, hospitals, nurses, police all have far too much money - we should all stop paying.

"It's not fair" You sound like my 4 year old.

If you can't afford to run your car and pay the associated taxes, I suggest you get rid of it. We weren't born with two legs for nothing.
