Jonas D | Prove that I had paid my taxes? |
For some legal purposes I need to prove that I had paid my taxes for the last 3 years. However I can only find one years tax copies (the time when I did it with my tax adviser). The other years I did them on-line, but definitely can not remember what website and did not keep any copies.
What other ways can I prove that I had paid my taxes? I mean should they check with IRS, or can I ask IRS for some kind of prove? |

You could request a transcript for those 3 years from the IRS (free) on Form 4506-T http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506t.pdf?portlet=3
Or, if that isn't good enough, go for a copy of the return, but that will cost. Form 4506 http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf?portlet=3 |

Lesson for future: ALWAYS keep copies of your tax returns for about 10 years, longer if you have property.
You can get copies from IRS, takes time, some options cost money. Sounds like your only option at this point.
For some purposes you can submit your W-2s instead of tax return---IF you have them--you should. |

For how to get a copy from the IRS see http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc156.html
Ask whoever is asking for copies if a transcript will be sufficient - it's a computer printout of the info on your return. That usually is enough, and it's free, and faster to get than an actual copy. |

If you paid with your bank account, then you can go online and find the transaction and print that out. That's what I did when the IRS cashed my check and claim I didn't pay them... those fuggos |

You need to find your receipts, You can ask IRS for copies of your receipts of payment, But always keep 5 years of taxes |

Actually you also want the account transcript.
The return transcript shows you filed.
The account transcript shows you paid.
Form 4506-T at irs.gov. |

yes call the IRS and they have them on file for a fee they will mail them to you. you can try them online or just call either way they will give them to you. |
|

Ms. Angel..
 |
visit IRS website and download form 4506-T and request the Return Transcript for the years needed. This transcript is a line by line information you reported on your tax return and accepted by IRS. |

The IRS will help you, but only to provide your "tax transcripts". If they are asking for the proof, then they already have this information. If it's not them, just go to your local IRS office and ask them for your tax transcripts for those years. It's essentially an electronic printout of tax returns and are considered legal documentation for proving tax activities. |

the IRS will NOT help you. Every person is required to keep their tax records for 7 years! You have to figure out what company you used (probably turbotax online) and get the copies. It is your responsibility there is no other help. |
