Question on stimulus payment?
I couldnt seem to find an answer on the IRS website. My husband and I prepare our own taxes and use the taxact.com to file them. This year we had to pay in to federal and we did pay it in by april 15th out of our checking account. Will the stimulus payment we are to receive be deposited into that account or will we get a paper check?
I used turbo tax and I had to pay taxes. I paid using direct debit out of my checking account. I have gotten two different answers one says that they can't use the direct debit to direct deposit the stimulus payment will be a paper check, another says that it depends on the software you use and the guy at the IRS office I talked to said that if your account info is on your tax return you should get it direct deposit.
So nobody really knows how you will get it if you had to pay.
So plan on getting a paper check just incase it is not direct deposit.

The answer to your question is that you will be receiving a papercheck. Under the FAQ on IRS website it states:
Q. I chose direct debit to pay my tax bill. Will my stimulus payment be direct deposited to the same account?
A. No, the account information used for an incoming direct debit payment to the IRS cannot be used as the account information for the direct deposit of the stimulus payment. People who choose direct debit to pay a balance due will receive their stimulus payments by paper check through the mail. [Updated 3/3/08]

I think it will be a paper check. Because they do not have the information for direct deposit since you had to pay in.

my understanding is that however you filed your original return is how you will receive the stimulus rebate. so I'd say that yours will be direct deposited.

I think it would be deposited into your account since that is how your last transaction with them was done. According to the last 2 digits of your social security #.
