Rapid refunds come at a price the fastest way for you to get your refund without paying extra for it is to e-file and have it deirect deposited into your checking account. It only takes a few weeks that way. |

I began getting mine in January, 2006 on my first paycheck! I figured out what I should be paying in taxes for the year 2006, divided by the number of pay periods in the year, filed a new W-4 with my employer so that the withholding equaled my estimated taxes. This put another $45 dollars in each paycheck.
Rather than spend this I stepped up my contribution to my 401(k) plan. My employer matched this at a rate of 50 cents for each dollar I contributed. So rather than blow some tax refund each April on something I don't really need I ended up lowering my taxes (401(k) contributions are not taxed) and significantly increased my savings.
I think I'm finally on my way to getting financially smart! |

When you get rapid refund basically you are getting a loan against your anticipated refund. The interest rate is usually pretty high and you will lop off a couple of hundred dollars off your refund that way. Like the others suggested, e-file is probably the fastest and least expensive. You will usually get your refund within 10 days after they accept your tax submission. If you don't really have alot of deductions or you are not going to use a long form, you might look into just doing Turbo tax or other tax software. You will save a ton in accountant fees. |

If they efile your return and you have your refund direct deposited, you'll get it in a couple weeks or less.
The "rapid refund" offered by some chain preparers is really a very expensive, short term loan. The loans are actually given by a bank or finance company, not the tax preparer. Most accountants do not offer this - they're not into payday-loan type arrangements. |
