Recently got laid off from a part time temporary position. Am I eligible for severance pay? ?
I get paid hourly with no benefits or any kind or pay vacations or sick leave of any sort. Do I still get severance pay? Or are severances usually only for full-time positions with benefits and all?

That is up to the employer. Severance pay is not required by law, but some employers do it voluntarily to make the lay off or downsizing a little less rough on the employees affected.

Doctor Deth
severence pay is not a law or guarantee and and I have never heard of a part timer getting it

There is no law requiring severance pay, that's up to the company. When severance is given at all, t's usually only given for full time positions.

Actually, most jobs don't give severance pay. Those that do, have specific rules about how many years you have to get how much money. If you have enough work history, you can apply for unemployment compensation.

Severance pay is not required. If that is the employers practice than you would probably but they are not obligated to give it to you.

bud68
Severance pay is the option of the employer. There is no "entitlement" in the U.S.

Probably not from your employer because it was a temp position to begin with. That would be your employers choice.

But you may be able to collect state unemployment benefits. Search for unemployment and the name of your state to see what you can find or see if there is a state office you can call by phone. It will probably depend on how long you have worked.
