Reporting tax fraud?
what information do i need to report someone to irs for receiving cash payments (being paid "under the table") and not reporting it as income?
Additional Details
Dear bro_doogle and theactor1977, yes, "rat" would be a description used by many people to describe my exhusband. I prefer referring to him has "my beautiful child's father". But thank you for your input. CortneyN, I am not aware of the names of the many people that he does "work for cash" for, but his case worker has declared that the courts are unable to obtain any of the last four years childsupport due to his not filing taxes during that time. Love PP, I haven't decided whether or not to report this, but if I do, I would hope that after all these yrs, revenge wouldn't win over responsibility (but it's a good pt to consider) - as for an audit on me... welcome to my home Mr. IRS man. Would you like some tea with that? :) branjo, Trey, jim, lovely & jinky - thanks for your help! picking the best answer will be hard... but your assistance is greatly appreciated! All of you, have a great day!

Hi ababy,

How Do You Report Suspected Tax Fraud Activity?

If you suspect or know of an individual or company that is not complying with the tax laws, you may report this activity by completing Form 3949-A. You may fill out Form 3949-A online, print it and mail it to:

Internal Revenue Service
Fresno, CA 93888

If you do not wish to use Form 3949-A, you may send a letter to the address above. Please include the following information, if available:

* Name and address of the person you are reporting

* The taxpayer identification number (social security number for an individual or employer identification number for a business)

* A brief description of the alleged violation, including how you became aware of or obtained the information

* The years involved

* The estimated dollar amount of any unreported income

* Your name, address and daytime telephone number

Although you are not required to identify yourself, it is helpful to do so. Your identity can be kept confidential. You may also be entitled to a reward.

Form 3949-A

Good Luck,
~Trey

You had better be prepared to hire your own lawyer at your expense if you want to go there...

If this is about justice, then I suggest your go after major corporations.

If this is about vengence, be prepared for a rough road ahead...

At the very least the name(s) and addresses of both parties, payee and payer. Social Security numbers would be helpful as well.

After reading the posts of all these people calling you a "rat," I wanted to THANK YOU for reporting this person! Personally, I'm tired of my tax dollars supporting others who choose to forego their tax responsibilities. KUDOS TO YOU for doing what's right, regardless of the peer pressure of others' posts!

theactor1977

The IRS has a website and that will provide you a phone number for fraud. You can call with out providing your name. they will ask you several questions but sometimes it swept under the rug anyway.
