i have just left my job i was salary paid i got paid on the 28 th of every month i left on the 26 th this month wich means pay day was on sunday they docked my wages because i only worked 20 days this month can they do this?

Hiya,
Whilst it sucks, I am sure my company does this. Basically, its a pro rata amount of your monthly standard salary for the amount of days you work against the amount of days you could potentially work throught an entire month. |

While you may have been paid on the 28th, the money was for the whole month to the 30th/31st. Because you left on the 26th they are not bound to pay for the 5/ 6 days you did not work |

You should of left at the end of the pay period and then you could of avoided this question. If you had any unpaid vacation they should of given you that too when you left...unless their policy doesnt permit it. You gave them prior notice but did you work all the hours a salaried person is required to in that pay period? I worked a job that required me to work 48 hours salaried and they paid the differences when i left because i had worked over the 48 and could prove it. I even was given my bonus because I had earned it prior to my given notice. employers like to stick it to us when we leave them because they feel betrayed by us but when they treat us badly...it's what we deserve. Isn't that a joke! I say try and talk to payroll and see about what the policy is to get your money. Good luck! |

usually when paid monthly you are paid for two weeks you have worked and for two in advanced that you have not yet worked .....maybe thats why |

You should contact your local CAB.....if you gave them notice then they should not have docked anything from you |

I don't think they can, as you worked a full salary month.
If you hadn't been leaving you would have received a full months pay so there should be no difference |
