Check out the above, this is guidance from the Valuation office who list properties for Council Tax purposes.
It depends on a lot of circumstances and on what basis he occupies the van e.g is he the owner or a tenant.
On the plus side, the local authority can only backdate a charge for 6 years so if they do decide to include it on the rating list he will have to pay back 6 years worth of Council Tax (caravans are normally a Band A) sounds nasty but the Council should make some sort of arrangement for him to pay the charge back. |

Well, prosecution for non-payment of tax would be pretty high on the list, and quite right too. If he fails to pay it, it's a jail term. |

I have lived overseas since 1959 and am officially non resident, but the local council decided I had to pay. Of course I didnt, and when I tried to sponsor my daughter for a Bank account, I found I was listed as a credit risk. My assets at the moment are well over one million, but I refuse to pay, and will remain a credit risk forever. Dont pay it, they cant chop your hands off !! |
