Should I be paying for this?
I moved out of my flat yesterday as I could not stand one of my flatmates {she was really filthy and weird}. When I moved in I paid 1 months rent (£350) plus deposit (£350) so in total paid £700. Have paid rent on time every month. They have someone else to move in but she won't be able to give me my eposit back for another month, which I'm okay with as I know and trust the girl who's moving in.

Rent was paid at the start of every month, so I am fully paid up till the start of November. My old flatmate wants me to pay rent on the !st of Novemeber even though I won't be staying there and they already have someone else to move in.

Why should I be paying for her first months rent?

Am I right here?

Yes you are. Don't pay it. I wouldn't.

tell her to take a hike and keep your purse closed. Unless the new girl gives you the deposit I doubt if you ever will get this either.

I am not sure that the answers - though morally right - are 100% correct.

When you signed the tenancy agreement did you have to give a month's notice? Did you give it? If not the landlord may be legally within his/her rights to ask for the rent.

If this is a recent tenancy the deposit [I assume you are in UK as you quote ££'s] should have been held by another body not just the landlord.

If it is not the landlord is acting illegally..

Yes, you are right. The rent is always paid in advance. So if you are not living there anymore you shoudn't be paying. If I were you I would ask for my deposit back on the day I was leaving.

no stand up to her if you fall out its not your fault cos she sounds like a crap friend

Convey your intention to the owner of the Flat firmly. Ask him/her to return the deposit, as you have to pay advance to another flat where you are occupying next month.
