Sales to non-profits and charities in California are subject to California's sales tax. California does NOT exempt sales to churches from its sales tax. There is NO exemption!

Churches - as non-exempt entities have 'state tax' numbers that exempt them from paying state tax on purchases.
Ask for the tax exempt number. If they don't have it, then they can't prove it's being bought for the church. Thus, you can tax them.

if they have a tax number....no. if not its up to you....you can always write it off on your end of the year taxes. but make sure they are legitimate.

Churches don't pay income tax. Probably don't have to pay property taxes either. But I'm sure they have to pay sales tax on normal items they purchase.
