Should a 16 year old thats working 20 hrs a week and is a full time studnet get income taxes back?

Yes. As far as I know, they should get it all back, unless you earn over a certain amount.

If the 16 year old made under $5350 for the year, and had anything withheld for federal income tax, they'd get it all back, not because they're 16 but because they wouldn't owe any tax. But if they worked 20 hrs a week all year, even at minimum wage they'd owe some tax - would get something back if they had too much withheld, or would owe if they didn't have enough withheld, it could go either way.

That depends. Whether you get anything back when you file depends upon your tax liability and how much tax was withheld during the year. Your age and the number of hours you work don't have anything to do with it.

If your income is below the filing requirement amount ($5,350 for a dependent in 2007) then any Federal income tax withheld will be returned to you. If you earn more than that, you MIGHT get something back or you COULD even owe; it all depends upon how much was withheld and your tax liability.

Not if she knows how to claim exeptions properly on her W-2

It depends on how much you earn and how much tax you have withheld. It doesn't have anything to do with your age.

Ms. Angel..
It all depends on how much you earn for the year, how much was withheld etc.

I would practically guarantee it. See, the fact that you are a student really makes no difference at all. The fact that your only source of income is from a W-2, and the fact that you probably didn't make that much anyway, is why you are going to get a refund.

linda
if you don't get all of it back you will certainly get most of it back
