I think I understand one may be thinking of that obese person driving the SUV, guzzling sodas and junk food, needing assistance on public transport if and when that person uses such.
However, taxing would pose a problem for those poor who become obese through the limited availability of nutritious foods and their limited education, which limits their ability to choose. Many food pantries and soup kitchens serve up too many fatty, greasy, carb-laden food. Also, much health food is very expensive.
We need to educate everyone about good nutrition. Perhaps then you can seriously discuss taxing people according to how much they weigh. |

That's very, very biased thinking. You can't use BMI because muscle weighs more than fat. So, you can have people weighing 150 pounds, but one is leaner than the other one because they have more muscle. And what about people who are overweight because of medical issues? They should be penalized for that, ontop of the meds they take to try to help their issue? I think perhaps we should tax more ignorant, inconsiderate people like you for having such a biased view on life. Apparently school taught you nothing. |

No! The world has enough anorexics and bulimics trying to lose weight to keep up with the skinny scrawny models and actresses in our society. Let's not give people another reason to starve themselves. Besides, you're probably skinny or you wouldn't even consider this. How about the less you weigh, the more you pay? I like that idea, being on the chubby side myself. |

No,This would be a severe form of discrimination. |

Absolutley not. It might not be their fault that they are over weight. It might be some kind of disease or something. Plus I know this kid who eats and uses tons of things like that but he is the smallest person I know because he has a certain type of cancer that makes it so he cant gain weight. It is called all men are created equal. So all men should be treated equally. |

Although everything we eat is taxed, most of everything we do is taxed. I would say that that is a little odd to thing we would be taxed because of our weight, when our country is doing so much to give out knowledge to not be over weight and healthy. My answer is a simple no. who would even think of doing that. |

can't tax me based on weight. i'll become anorexic. heck... we should all just get gastric bypass. ... doesn't seem like it would work. plus, what about people with thyroid or other health conditions that can not control their weight? is it fair to tax them more? |

No.Think about it yourself we all are not perfect. If they charge more. Then we get charge more also. And you shouldn't put people down that way. How would you like it if they did it to you. Where's your com sense. |

Yes, BUT ONLY how much they die at death. It would be the new estate tax.
The BMI has not been around long enough to withstand any court challenges that would arise from this ridiculous notion to tax people based on weight. What's next ? No tax and free insurance for Left-Handers because they live longer and have fewer car accidents?
Think about it. You need more time and data to make these correlations.
And I would pay no, or little, tax based on your questions because I run MArathons and weigh less than 2 lbs per inch of my height.
Silly IDEA, that has been around for years. |

I think airlines should have a set weight. It does seem unfair a 55kg person can take the same luggage quota as a 110kg person, apart from that I don't think we should discriminate because if we go down that road everyone will be taxed for something. Vegetarians for farting more and causing pollution? Women for taking up more room on the packed subway because they have breasts?
Peace to all........!! |

So Paris Hilton, Kate Moss, Nicole Ritchie shouldn't pay taxes because they weigh like minus 0. I bet they use more goods and services than the average fat person. |
