Do you get paid interest on your annual refund check? That money was your money that they withheld too much, so do you see interest on that money? |

It's a stimulus check, they were not required to issue it to you and they do not owe it to you so I doubt you'll see any interest. Also they could claim it was in part your fault for closing the account. |

NO. It's not the IRS's fault that you closed your account. And, this is a bonus check (free money). It is not something that they owed you, like a debt, which could collect interest.
Just be happy we're all getting free money. I know you probably need it now, but there just isn't any rational basis for the IRS to pay interest on this money. Sorry. |

And just how is it the IRS's fault that you no longer have that account? Seems to me like YOU are the one responsible for that. So no, you aren't entitled to any interest. They aren't withholding your money, you messed up the direct deposit and forced them to do the extra work of changing the direct deposit into a paper check. But nice guys that they are, they won't charge you for that..... |

Why would they give you more money just because you no longer have the account you were going to use? It is your own fault that you are getting your money late. They aren't going to give you more money for something you caused. Also, if you owe them money they can take it from your stimulus. That's what they did to my brother in law. They took all but $100 to pay off what he owed them. |

Unfortunately not. Good luck. |

You will not be paid interest because your stimulus check is not being paid late, it's just not being paid as early as you had been led to believe it would be. The stimulus checks are pre-payments of 2008 tax credits. Interest would not begin accruing on them until 6/1/2009 (which is moot because no stimulus checks will be mailed after 12/31/2008). |

Ms. Angel..

How is you closing a bank account IRS fault? Why would anyone would close an account knowing another deposit is due? why should IRS pay you Interest on something you did? Are they withholding your stimulus because of a closed account?
I doubt they would pay interest for something you did.
Count your blessing that you qualified for the stimulus. You delayed your refund by closing your account usually by 6-12 weeks. |

The only intrest you are going to get is the intrest you have in getting it, they DO NOT pay you any more that they have too |

Im a tax preparer and u should even be glad that their even sending people money, so my answer is NO! But I do wish they would pay interest on it, because I haven't received my payment. |

That sure would be nice, wouldn't it? It's funny how if we pay late, we are penalized. If they pay late, well.. that's too bad. |

Don't you love the way that works? You're late; they charge interest. They're late; you can't charge them interest!! |
