Single? No kids? Work hard? Mugs?
Once again, unsurprisingly but still bloody irritatingly, there is fcuk all in this year's budget that is in my favour.

I am single, I have no kids, I have a relatively well paid job. Why do I bother?

The only way to actually get something back from what I pay into the system is to lose my job, breed like a nymphomaniac rabbit that is permanently doped up on viagra and claim every benefit under the sun.

I am so sick of paying around £700 every month in income tax and National Insurance to fund other people who do sod all to help themselves, to fund people who breed irresponsibly (if you can't afford kids, don't have them), and to fund this Government's complete ineptitude at managing the economy.

Does anyone else fit into this category of people that pays the most yet is cared about least by the Government?

What is your view on the budget?

To ChocLover - my point exactly, doesn't it make you sick to the back teeth?!!!

ChocLover
Haven't seen the outcome of the budget but like you I have no kids although I am married (seems like I'm the only one that's done it this way round!!). My job doesn't pay that well but both me and my hubby work over 50 hours per week so we can afford to pay our rent and bills, we get NO benefits whatsoever. Next door have 5 kids under 6, neither of them work and they get housing benefit, council tax benefit and over £350 per week to live on, I expect that will be increased today for them. They also sell drugs by the way.

Claire S - If you can't afford kids - don't have them, don't expect me to pay for them out of my taxes - I CAN'T AFFORD KIDS OF MY OWN, WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR YOURS?

Yes boy wonder, I completely agree. ...

I pay a hell of a lot in income tax, and I have private health care, went to a private school. I rely on the state for NOTHING, I make my own way in life. I can not stand how much is given in social security, I feel strongly that we all make our own way in life, and if you can't afford a kid, you don't have one ... simple as that. These mothers who have a kid, and get benefits and homes, and spend it on fags, booze and lottery tickets actually make me just want to go nuts, what are those idiots in government doing!!!?!?!?

I have one child, and can assure you that you don't get a lot for that. It's 20 quid a month, or something equally ridiculous.

I think you have to birth the equivalent of a small nation-state before you can live from the proceeds...

EDIT: the blaggers that bother me most are young singles of working age, who nevertheless ask for, and recieve, council property. THey do this to gain more disposable income - but it means the rest of us have to subsidise their house.

No problem with old/disabled/otherwise unemployable folk getting a roof - but why, for the love of all that it holy, are we freely giving out 3-bed houses to young, single, employed men?

/rant

Tee - how can you say you get 'no help whatsoever' when you're renting a house, from the Council, for peanuts? Who do you think pays for that?

I would like to reduce my rent, too. The thing is, I don't expect the rest of the local population to pay for my housing - and to be brutally honest, I don't see why they should pay for yours.

If you can't rent on your own, get a house-share; having your own property is not an automatic human right.

My husband and I both work extremely hard. We have two children and I'm happy to say, we can afford them. However, our joint monthly taxation is a staggering amount. I agree with you - there's very little incentive for the moral majority who fund the lifestyles of the lazy dole scrounging few.

des
just like me mate your shafted !!!!!!

Tee
Yes, we get shafted. I am a single, young woman who receives no help whatsoever. My partner (who doesn't live with me) pays 40% of his wages on income tax that goes to the likes of my neighbours.

I'm not talking about all benefit claimants here, just the ones who just don't want to get off their arses and work. They have no pride and don't care because at the end of the day, the government looks after their lazy raases.

As for young people asking for and getting council houses, it's a no-brainer! Look at the cost of property these days. I live in one and I pay the rent, the council tax and everything else. Oh yes, and the service charge. When the time comes I will buy it. What's better? Staying at home with the parents to saving until I'm 40 for a deposit, paying rent to a stranger whilst I save for the deposit or saving a few quid, renting from the council (which I am well within my rights to do) and get on the property ladder that way?

We can sit here and complain about the budget but what difference does it make? Ordinary working class people pay through the nose for the layabouts to live the life of riley. You either accept it or you go elsewhere. I know what I'm going to do...

I am sorry boy wonder....It is the same old story....unfortunately it is the young, single well paid workers who pay the most....but when you are married, poorer, older and not as healthy it will be the young, single and well paid workers in 40 years time who will be helping you....that's the way of the world....but rest assured, I thank you for your generous contributions.

either way we look at it, we're going to be screwed regardless!

bazspur3
you are seen as the least needy so will not get much in any budget. sometimes everyone wonders why they bother at all but it's a lot better than being unemployed, it's just that some losers are quite happy to live on their benefits. you my friend have ambition and that alone makes you important to the economy and the country and your standard of life should always be of a decent level.

The middle classes get hammered again, The snout in the trough politicians in London, Brussels and Edinburgh don't give a monkey's about us. Bleed them till they burst, that's the Labour mantra. I worked hard since I was 15, only had two jobs, never claimed benefits. Retired and now being hammered by this inept bunch of crooks. Brown sold off our gold reserves at rock bottom prices to fund his extravagances. Worst Chancellor in history, now looking like the worst PM ever. Darling is just a brainless puppet. Come the revolution. they'll be first against the wall, with all their cronies. Thieves and vagabonds the lot of 'em. Apparently.

a darling could teach scrooge a few tricks, take whisky, for every bottle you buy 75% of it is tax, does he think winos go around quaffing chivas regal,i dont think so,your single and hell rake it in off you,but if you were married you are better off, does this apply to gay marriges as well?,discriminate against the poor, feed the wealthy, instead of raising the child benefit next year,do it now,you bung up cigs and booze very quickly so why not with cash for kids?
no doubt he,ll be hearing "ebenezer, ebenezer" late at night, only for him to slap a haunting tax on the poor spirit after all he does to the distillerys every budget

well i understand your dissapiontment, but the only reason us families get any help is because were on a low wage, u think about it say 2 adults and 1 kids, one adult goes out to work the other adult stays home and looks after the kids, imagine paying all the bills on one wage, i no u have bills but generally u will earn alot more than most, and u can get help with rent and council tax if your on a low wage, i no when i return 2 work we will get no extras.. i do agree i think they should offer something extra 2 single people, good luck

Leigh H
Chances are you're going to get some of it back one day so why complain? Taxes are a way of the world and have been for many, many years...
