So the Tax payer is bailing out the banks, what do we get back ?
Will we gain anything by bailing out the banks, as I am sure the Bankers will still make sure they get their fat christmas bonuses even though they have messed everything up.
They ought to make a new law on what these bankers get paid now, it has made it obvious that the money they get paid is only play money with the evidence on how much a bank can lose in 1 day, so they obviously need to be more careful in future and live in the real world !
Will we see our money paid back before we hear of stupid "square mile" bonuses again ?

What we get in return for bailing out the banks? Another year of the Labour government with that Scottish imbecile as prime minister. Aren't we lucky?

Professor
There is no doubt that the banks in Uk have always run the country and the government is their pawn. This is the peoples' fault as much as anything as we are so heavily into money and wealth. I sadly include myself in this lust for cash

It's not like we ever had the money in the first place though but at least we now know just how much the government stashes away from the taxpayer. It never ceases to amaze me how they can't afford to pay for alzheimers/cancer drugs, education etc yet whenever there's a crisis overseas or big business is involved they seem to have bottomless pockets.

We get back a relatively stable banking scene .Cast your mind back a few months to the queues outside Northern rock imagine the scenario with all banks like that . In this electronic banking age few people see the colour of money let alone handle it . As distaste full as it seems the greed of bankers is secondary to the smooth running of the banking systems .

Preferential Shares in the banks. If the situation sorts itself out we can swap them for normal shares at a favourable rate, cash em in and were all going on holiday... or the govt uses it to pay off public borrowing.

Capt Jack
If we have all this money to put in, why doesn't the government just nationalise now, and wait a few years, and then sell it on at a profit, paying off all the PFI deals with the proceeds.

All the regs on nationalised banks seem to be that the government ditches any asset that would make us any profit back.

There are conditions on any bank that has bail-out money. But that's not to say we won't hear of any silly money bonuses from the institutions that actually did well from this.

What do we get back, Absolutely nothing, only the satisfaction that once again the tax payers have helped bail out a Labour government. No wonder in the "good old days" people used to keep their money under the mattress or in their socks because they did not trust banks.
