Social number on W-2 is wrong Only last 4 are correct?
Additional Details Can I still use it. I going to go to H&R block to file is this going to be a problem. My name and address are correct on W-2.
Contact employer. They'll need to file an ammended w2. You'll use the corrected w2 to file your taxes.

This needs to be done quickly because some other poor soul with that social security number will be hooked by the IRS. The new W-2 will say "corrected W-2" on it.

You need to contact your employer because your salary and social security deduction were not credited to your account.Do not file until your employer give you a corrected W-2.
You need to go into your local Social Security Office to make sure that your employer has follow through with the correction.
It may not seem important to you today, but when you go to retire and they tell you your earning were short in a certain quarter--OH Well
Sheila
You need to have the employer give you a correct form, sorry.
Gary
You need to get a corrected W2 form from your employer before you file you 2007 income taxes. You may have to amend your previous years as well. Do not forget your state taxes. Also, you need to contact your local Social Security Office because all of your Social Security deductions including Medicare has been not been going in your account. Check previous years as well.

Has your SS been correct on your pay stubs? If they have then take your last pay stub to H and R and ask them about going ahead and filing. You do need to tell your employer to fix it regardless. It has to be amended or you will not get any of the money credited in your name on anything. Including Social Security that is held out.

Get it corrected and a revised version issued from your employer first. A garbled SSN could lead to bigger problems down the road. Get it fixed with your employer NOW.
Ms. Angel..
You must contact your employer, to correct the social security number on the W2 and his records. An incorrect SSN will only delay the processing of your federal tax return. IRS will then have to send you a letter and request your proof what your correct SSN.
It easier and faster and the correct thing to do is have your employer correct his mistake.
