Ok I was due to get my 08 Rebate Stimulus Check on 5-9-08 as my hubbys last 2 digits of his social are 51.
We filed and received our tax return way before the cut off date and it was even spent before the cut off date LOL!
We also did it through H&R Block online but I think we ended up taking the fees out of our tax return and I hear that that is effecting our rebate check from it being a direct deposit to a check being mailed out now?
Our Tax refund was direct deposit so i thought that our rebate check would be too. But now I hear bc we payed our fees through our tax refund the rebate will now be mailed. Is this true or false... I keep hearing yes and no? |

Q. I chose direct deposit for my 2007 tax refund but also requested my electronic filing and/or tax preparation fees be deducted from my refund. Does that affect my stimulus payment?
A. If you requested that your electronic filing or tax preparation fee be deducted from the amount of your refund, you have entered into a financial agreement with the tax preparation provider or e-file software company for a refund anticipated check (RAC). Both Refund Anticipation Checks (RACs) and Refund Anticipation Loans (RALs) are bank products. The money that is deposited into your bank account comes from the financial institution associated with your electronic filing software provider or tax preparation provider, not directly from the IRS. Taxpayers who use RALs, RACs or enter into similar loans or financial agreements with their tax professional or tax software companies will not receive their economic stimulus payments by direct deposit. Instead they will get a paper check that will be issued according to the schedule that has been published for paper check distribution. |

If your fees were taken out of your refund, you will receive a paper check. This is true. You can check www.irs.gov for a schedule of when the check will be mailed. |

If you had your fees taken directly out of your check, that means your check was actually direct deposited by Santa Monica Bank, not the IRS. That's why you will get a paper check. The IRS did not direct deposit your check, the bank did. |

IF your fees were taken out of your tax redturn then you will get a paper check. Even if you had Direct deposit. Because your direct deposit came from the bank that HR block uses not the irs. The bank(HR BLOCK) got the DD from the irs. |

IT GOES LIKE THIS WHEN YOU AGREED TO HAVE FEES TAKEN FROM REFUND YOU AGREED TO LET BLOCK GET YOUR REFUND PUT IN THEIR ACCOUNT 1ST SO THEY CAN DEDUCT THEIR FEES AND THEN SEND THE REST TO YOUR ACCOUNT.WHICH BLOCK HAD YOUR DD INFO NOT THE IRS,SO THAT'S WHY YOU'LL BE GETTING A CHECK FROM THE IRS NOW,B/C IRS NEVER HAD YOUR INFO THEY ONLY HAD BLOCK'S.
NOW BLOCK HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR REBATE IT'S JUST U AND THE IRS NOW,AND THEY HAVE NO INFO ON YOUR BANK ACCOUNT. SORRY!
CHECK YOUR BANK STATEMENT FROM WHEN YOU GOT YOUR ORIGINAL REFUND AND IF SAYS ANYTHING OTHER THAN U.S. TREASURY ,YOU WILL GET A PAPER CHECK BY MAIL.

You can look at your checking account statement for the period of the original refund. If it says that the direct deposit source was "US TREASURY" then the refund came directly from the government, and your rebate will come the same way. IF it shows any other source for the refund direct deposit, then it did not come directly from the government, and your rebate will come as a paper check. |
