My son turned 18 in January, will I still get 300 for him from the economic stimulus? I claimed him for the entire year 2007.

I'm surprised how so many people can read the same information and give you different answers. (Three of the answers were right; three were wrong.)

Take a look at this IRS web page regarding these stimulus package rebates: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=179181,00.html

Scroll through it -- you'll find multiple instances when it talks about the question that you've asked. It states the answer in various ways but, still gives the same answer:
- Families with children under 17 generally will qualify for an additional payment.
- Eligible taxpayers who qualify for a payment may receive an additional $300 for each qualifying child. To qualify a child must be under age 17.
- But to qualify, a child must be under age 17 as of Dec. 31, 2007. In other words, if a child was 16 or younger at the end of 2007 and meets the other eligibility requirements, then the child will qualify for the $300 stimulus payment.

Hope that helps to clarify the answer to your question.

(As always, try to verify the information yourself. Don't just automatically believe what people on this forum tell you -- check for yourself. "Trust but verify.")

The stimulus package that Congress passed earlier this month in an effort to give the weak economy a jump-start also includes a $300 per child payment for qualifying children younger than 17.
nope you wont get the $300 for him... the irs sit and the notification letter they sent out says children under 17 and he was not under 17 at that time

No, you will not get rebate for your son. To be eligible the dependent must be under 17 on Dec 31, 2007.
For information on stimulus tax rebate schedule, the eligibility and how much rebate you will get read: http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/02/are-you-eligible.html

No. He would have had to be UNDER age 17 as of Dec 31, 2007 for you to receive the extra $300.

TaylorProud
If he did not turn 17 until JAN then YES you will get it.
My son turned 17 in March of this year and I will get it .
The cut off is DEC 31, 2007 for Child Tax Credit
So if you got the 1000 Child Tax Credit for him on your 2007 Taxes then YES you will get the 300 rebate for him.

17 & under according to the website. Check the website.

I believe as long as your son was still living with u and u claimed him the whole year and claimed him, on your tax return. You should be getting the 300.00 for him on the tax rebate
