I think the government should bring in a new tax for the obese. They should be charged by airlines as we are when our baggage allowance exceeds the limit. Also because they need bigger seats as Ricky Gervais said "they don't make bigger seats for fatties because if they did they would only fit about 10 people on the plane"
Plus they cost the NHS more. Why should i pay the same for a size 6 item of clothing as a size 18 when they use up about 3 times more material??

Fat people should pay more for airplane seats and big clothes!

Do we even care if it a genetic problem? How about an "ugly" tax...you know..for ugly people because...well...they are ugly...ya know. Or how about people who cause us stress and maybe shorten our lives...or alcoholics tax...drug user tax...smokers tax...where would this end. And how much more tax do you think they should pay? 10%...20% more...This is a classic slippery slope argument. |

your kinda a *****...some people are built differently, i wear a size 14 but i am not obese, or even considered over weight. im not saying people who are obese can't help it, becasue they can, but sometimes different diseases cause weight gain, like problems with the thyroid and such. |

I disagree because poeple like me would get caught up in the whole messuring and standards process........I'm not fat but most poeple wouldn't like to see the number I see every time I step on the scale!!
I am sure as hell not a fattie!! I measured and I am about 6% body fat, on average people guess my weight about 40lbs less than I really am, I'm 240lbs, with ALOT of muscle, I have a HUGE chest and BROAD shoulders, I wear size XL or 2X shirts depending on the store, I accede standard swingset euquipment limits at the playground by 65lbs, I only buy one plane ticket and one movie theatre seat but in both situations I am ALWAYS squishing in snuggly with the people next to me........
but what I am saying is that I honestly could NOT get any smaller even if I tried!! I am not fat but I am BIG!

Your tiny clothes are more difficult to make (cutting the material, etc.) so maybe that wouldn't work. Watch out for a smug tax. People tend to put on weight as they get older, it's just part of life's pattern. If people went on a diet, or said they had, could they get a rebate? I once met someone who said that only Times readers (UK) should be allowed to vote. All these things are tricky. I'd tax families with a second or third car, me. so there we are. |
