Tax?Its a boring subject! But we Brits get so ripped off!?
Income tax,National insurance,Council tax, Inheritence tax,Capital gains tax,Tax on savings,Tax on cigarettes, Tax on food, Tax on Fuel,Vat, Duty and so we continue to get hit with stealth taxes, What about taxing for the view from your home? That was last year, now its bin tax! Britians government can only think of different angles to tax us. I'm sick of it and I'm sorry about my rant but I have to work stupid hours to support my wife and kids resulting in my absence. The government waste so much cash, I wish they gave support to the people who provide the money to the country Instead off looking after the elements which drain it!
Want to stand up and over throw the government?
Additional Details
eriverpipe: I may not have researched the topic in accordance with OECD, but I am fully aware that the government WASTE a large amount of contributions from tax, which was the point! Not the tax comparison with other countries. Read the question Dumbass!
Oh an I see countries like Canada, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Norway and Sweden fighting unecessesary wars costing their people billions!

The only way to over throw a government in our Democracy is to go to the ballot box on polling day. Unfortunately when some of us go there we haven't got the faintest idea what issues or what candidate we vote.
We tend to listen to the Media, the media is touting for their own interests so they lead some of us into believing the rubbish they print or are allowed to inform us of, that's the reason they have editors.
Lets face friend if they reported everything they knew the government's past and present would have fallen long before they did.
Check This have a chuckle
Very Taxing
Tax his cow, tax his goat;
Tax his pants, tax his coat.
Tax his crop, tax his work;
Tax his ties, tax his shirt.
Tax his chew, tax his smoke;
Teach him taxing is no joke.
Tax his tractor, tax his mule;
Tell him, "Taxing is the rule."
Tax his oil, tax his gas;
Tax his notes, tax his cash.
Tax him good and let him know
That after taxes, he has no dough.
If he hollers, tax him more;
Tax him 'til he's good and sore.
Tax his coffin, tax his grave,
Tax the sod 'neath which he's laid.
Put these words upon his tomb:
"Taxes drove him to his doom."
After he's gone, we won't relax;
We'll still collect inheritance tax.

You may be ranting but I bet a lot of us agree with you !!! It is getting beyond a joke , and you missed another tax .Those of us who have been sensible enough to save for a pension that gets taxed too !! I don't mind supporting those who are in need but as you say far too much of our taxes are wasted on useless schemes that get scrapped after a year or so .
I am sure your over throw of the government was said a bit tongue and cheek , I would prefer to do this through ballot box , its a shame only about 55% of the population agree .
That lead me to my real swipe at polotics in general , why on earth do we need so many polititian , levels of government and special advisers . They are self perpetuating increasing by the second the number of public servants our taxes have to pay for .
Now you have got me ranting , what a good start to the week !!! Have a pint later to calm down .

It's the price to have good public services, but I think the UK services are rubbish comparing to the taxes paid. I am french, and I can say we pay a lot of tax too (but not a lot more than in Brittain), and we have good services but a big public deficit. Paying taxes for good services, I do agree, but you're right, when I see roads, electricity network, NHS, .... I do agree you. Honestly, paying taxes for the Iraq war, it's a scandal.

We pay the sort of Taxes that you would expect to pay living in luxury in places like Monte Carlo, we are on a rock in the North sea!! We shouldn't pay tax to encourage us to stay here!!

Niks
Your so so right, I so agree with you. It's bloody disgraceful, we have more taxes than any other country in the world. The cost of living rises every year and pays are not being kept up with it, it's a nightmare.

ooh, a coup! The government is too left wing, welfare dependence is rife over there. Your point of view is very understandable.

Try and overthrow the government with your votes and your strongly worded views instead, thats legal.

Ha ha ha... you have clearly not researched this topic at all, have you? In terms of overall tax contribution set against the income of the average family in the UK (as at 2005, so hardly miles out of date and compiled by OECD), the following countries all have a SIGNIFICANTLY higher tax burden. France: Finland: Germany: Denmark: Belgium: Austria: : Spain: Sweden: Greece: Turkey: Pakistan: Morocco: Hungary: Italy: Netherlands: Poland. The UK is very comparable to Canada, Luxembourg, Portugal and Norway and not a million miles ahead of the USA and Australia. If you are looking for a SIGNIFICANT reduction in tax burden then you're kind of scraping around between Mexico, New Zealand, and Korea... please research your rants before committing them to cyberspace...
ADDITION
Read the question, answered it - if you want to make the point about you not being happy that the UK commits money to waging campaigns in military terms overseas, then make that point. One man's 'waste' is another man's 'necessity'. But don't you DARE slag me off for answering your question in the terms it appears on the site. You complained about the overall tax burden - I made the directly valid point that theburden is lower in the UK than in most other countries.... then you insult me.
