yea i am pissed too. it is not fair. i am single, childless, work a full time and part time job, pay all of my taxes on time (local, state, and federal), take public tranportation to work, and recycle and yet the US government cant give me a break. i am seriously thinking of quiting all jobs, have 5 kids and move into subsidized housing. then in 2009 or 20010 i will get a ton of money during tax time. i mean seriosuly?? |

Because the government, in its exercise of discretionary power, has chosen to favor, as a matter of social policy, families (husband and wife) with children. Get over it--there used to be a marriage penalty in taxation. I bet you didn't whine then. |

The more kids you have, the more expenses you have
DINGALING!
It's just like paying taxes - kids are exemptions for getting reductions on paying taxes. This rebate is based upon the same principle.
Just take your free money and use it for something good - in your case, maybe a tax course would help you. |

Hmmm...........perhaps you should stay childless and single.........You sound way too selfish and self serving to procreate. Enjoy what you get and in reality it's a fair share. Children can be very expensive and I don't think you want to have to shell out any money to provide for another. Harsh but true. |

Hey how about the single parents who still have the kids to raise but only the one income to tax. We are right there with you getting the single rate. No head-of-household was used in the planning of this rebate. |

That's the way Congress passed the law. Complain to your congressman and senator. |

1. The tax system should be fair? Oh that's cute.
2. Not sure exactly what you'd sue for since the rebate is, in fact, the law. Vote out you're congressperson. It's why we have a democracy.
3. You're missing the point. They shouldn't be taking so much in the first place. Just be grateful they're giving some of it back! (Full disclosure - I don't get anything - I don't qualify!)
4. Have a child - you'll find out why you need more. |

For many years, taxes were higher for married couples rather than singletons, so that is just a swing of the pendulum. If you don't like that, write your congressman.
Secondly - procreation is required for the human race to survive. And a family with four children is the exception, rather than the rule. One or two is more like it, now.
Third - the amount parents put out - in taxes (income and sales), and otherwise is far more than any tax break ever offered. So they are still far more "in the hole" expense wise as singles are.
These are your future doctors, bus drivers, and solar engineers. We all have a vested interest in seeing them educated and cared for. |

Because people have more expenses with more children! It doesn't take a mathmatician to figure that out! It's free money, why are you comlaining about it! I know it's technically not free we have all paid in our fair share, but people with kids pay more too! Stop complainging and be grateful you got anything, some got none! I hardly think anyone would take on your outrageous case! |

When you get married, they tax the crap out of you, so I think it's fair that you get a little more back. And, yeah, the kids do cost a little extra from time to time, too.
I think you just wanted to post a question with the phrase "agrarian society," which you misspelled. |

I love how entiteled people with children are. " My kids cost me so much that of course people without children should pay more taxes!". You produced these money-pits so YOU pay! |

It is a person's choice to have children. I think it is selfish for people with children to complain it cost so much to have children. Shame on you. |

It is funny how those who elected to have kids keep complaining about costs. Some of us do not pick to be childless. it just happens and even so we should be treated the same. I wonder how many kids on food stamps have HDTV and cell phones. I think the gov should screen each person who applies more closely especially parents who try using their kids. The case worker should visit their home and see if they are really 'poor',. |
