if you go to http://www.entitledto.co.uk/ you will find an online calculator where you fill in all your personal details and it will tell you exactly what you will be entitled to!

Good luck

your best bet is to look at this site. Calculate both scenario's, as a single mum, and also as having a partner. Work on the basis of 25 hours at national minimum wage, which i think is £5.75 per hour. Obviously if the job you take pays more per hour you will have to use that for calculating.

if he moves in, he will have to support you, pay the rent everything, the same thing has just happened to a girl I know, she had all benefits stopped so has returned to full time work.

I would think very carefully about applying for tax credits. I am one of many people who had the dreaded letter from them telling me that I have been overpaid. I then had to find £750 to pay them back after they made the f**k up. It took me about 1 and half years to pay it back out. Just be very careful of them. This has happened to many people. We cancelled our claim and told them that we didnt want anymore to do with them. If you could try to get by without it, then I would.

if he moved in you would lose your income support, would have to pay £75 rent and about £80 council tax a month , so to be honest with you if you get a job say for £200 a week, you wouldnt be that much better off, im not sure if you would recieve working tax credits,

Your tax credits will depend on your income for the previous tax year (nil cos youre on IS) and what you will earn this year. Next year the tax credits will go down cos your 'previous years earnings'(ie this year) will be considerably more than IS. So the first year you could be quite well off with your blokes wage to. Whatever you get in wages and tax credits will affect how much (if any) housing and council tax benefit you get. You can work out your tax credits on the Inland Revenue site I think. But your local CAB should be able to do a benefit check and if you know how much youll earn and your blokes exact yearly wage it will be pretty accurate.

Hi I work for benefits, you didn't say how many children you have this would held decide how much you would get.
Based on your partners £200 per week and I have assumed 2 children, you would be entitled to about £65 per week in tax credits and about £40 per week housing benefit and £11 per week council tax.
If you phone your local council and tell them what your circumstances would be, you don't have to give your name just ask for an entitlement calculation, and they will be able to give you a more accurate figure, or email me more details and I will do it for you.
I based these figures on £200per week income £65 tax credit child benefit for 2 children rent of £75 per week and CT of £1100 per year with 2 children under 16
Hope this is helpful

If he moves in you will lose all your benefits, council tax rebate and everything plus your independance. It needs lots of thinking about but I wouldn't risk losing all that.

i wouldn't trust any of these chaps -too many pedo's about.

also yr benefits will be affected quite seriously if u let this chap move in, and thn if he leaves u would be the one who has to run to the tax credits or benefits etc.
so be careful what u do.
life is not that simple anymore.
