Nope ,it's still the same as 2009/10......these change usually at the budget immedately.I'm a carer and use to work out my own tax forms! Still looks the same as last year's allowance! |

The personal tax allowance will increase to approx £7,475.00 from (I think) April 2011. The VAT increase from 17.5% to 20% will start from c4th January 2011. The plan is to allow one final Christmas dash to the shops before the prices go up. I expect a lot of shops will try to absorb the difference for a few weeks, just to keep trade going a bit longer - esp the January sales etc.
Okay - the Budget Speech was made in the Commons yesterday at approx 12.30 pm - all of this has to be voted upon by the Commons before it becomes 'law' - or agreed upon.
The thinking is that Clegg is going to have a problem with his own left-wing lead by the Kennedy and supported by Simon Hughes and others, who are closer to Labour than they are to the Tories, whom they despise.
According to one expert I heard on the radio this morning, if the Coalition plans to cut back on the Home Office go ahead, it will mean the loss of something like 65,000 to 70,000 jobs - many of them will be policemen and etc.
It's far worse than anything ever I can remember and I was born in 1941.
But like I say, MPs have yet to give it the thumbs up and a lot of them will not, including the entire massed ranks of Labour and their supporters in the Lib/Dem ranks.
This is going to be fought every inch of the way.
But, you will probably get your basic tax allowance increase as promised. The plan eventually (over this parliament) is to increase the basic personal allowance until it reaches £10,000 of the first income which will be tax free.
Yeah right.
I'm now a pensioner of 68 and get a personal allowance of about £9,000 something or other, forget exactly how much. But even so, because I've got a part time job, they deduct from that personal allowance so that in fact it works out much less than the figure quoted.
In other words, the usual government swindle, under hand cheating thing.
Well at least we're promised that the basic State Pension will rise each year by not less than 2.5%. Gordon Brown's biggest insult to the Grey Panthers (we pensioners) was giving us a massive 70-pence increase last year. I mean, it would not even get you a cup of tea here in London, or a newspaper come to that. Blimey! Brahn is going dahn. |
