STOP! Don't even look for a refund anticipation loan. It is about the worst deal you can find and just made for suckers. Save a bunch of money by efiling and having direct deposit of your refund in about two weeks.

They are all bad and expensive.

General rule of thumb.....

Anything faster than the two weeks from the IRS is a loan against your refund and it will cost you. How much I would cost would vary by the size of the refund.

None of them are good or cheap. They are called Refund Anticipation Loans, and they're available through your tax preparer or seedy check cashing joints everywhere.

They have incredibly high interest rates.

I e-Filed last Friday, and got my money from my state return the followint Thursday. And I didn't have to pay a penny in interest.

Yes, you'll pay high fees for it.

You have to be careful of any of those places. They are called RAL's (rapid something or other loans) and the fees are astronomical. If you do just a E File, the fees are much much lower and you will get your money within 9-15 days.

travelguruette
Dont do it because you want the money only if you desperately need the money. Refunds come quickly with efiling. A RAL can cost $30 - $100 plus your tax prep fees. Long run is the extra 10 days really worth $100

Do not do it...file your taxes online yourself and get the money in a couple of weeks..I made the mistake of going through one of those places and it ended up costing almost 500 dollars (It was not worth it.)

project_princess_2003
Just efile through turbo tax and you should get your refund by direct deposit on Feb 1 I used to do the RAL but I discovered I was paying about $375 a year to get my money a few days sooner. They are a big rip off.
