It's strictly about taxes. Two people pay more tax than one person. Don't think of them as a couple, think of them as two separate tax payers who happen to live together. |

so, me and my wife, who likely pay more tax than you do because of our combined income, should get the same rebate as you, who pays taxes on only one income? let me think....no, it is not unfair if you consider combined incomes. |

It's not unfair.
This is a prebate on your income taxes. Someone who was married and made more than you would theoretically pay more in taxes to begin with.
Your lower income qualifies you for EIC. That's the biggest money fest there is. A married couple that makes twice as much as you probably gets ZERO EIC. Do you think that's fair to them? I don't. |

No it's completely fair because the father of your child will be getting a tax credit too. A tax credit or rebate is a return of taxes paid, not a transfer of wealth from one person to another. |

Married couple pays more in taxes, since it is being removed from both checks. And this isn't always true.. Some of the programs offered benifit the single parent more than the married couples. It depends. |

Not, its not unfair, that ludicrous. Its 300 dollars per adult tax payer. So if you are married, you get $600, and if you are a single parent you get $300. If you ask me, it would be really unfair to give $600 to individuals. I mean, what about a single college kid, using your logic, shouldnt he also get $600? They are going to give out an additional $300 per kid (up to 2 kids), so the single parent would still get more than her ex. |

no its not unfair, a couple pays more in taxes than a single w/ children. Try being a single person w/o kids, and own property. i paid in over 2,000 in work taxes not to mention property taxes i get bk less than 500. The no children is not by choice either. It is unfair for the seniors and disabled though they are left out of it all and probably have a harder time than any. When it comes to heat or medicine or food. They spend money too and they need it more than the rest. At least a single parent can get more food stamps and there are programs that will help pay for car repairs, and section 8 is available to help you have a roof over your head. |

yes you are, as Oldwhiteguy2earth, states your childs father will be getting his too. If you lived together than you would get the same as a married couple |

the 'tax rebate' is socialism at its best.
fair does not become part of the equation.
some one will pay for this.
as for real effect on the economy,
this is like a fart in a hurricane , it make u feel good but does not change the wind direction or speed.
visit library so u can find ways to increase ur income and lower ur expenses. |
