Tax rebate stimulus question?
Today I received a direct deposit with my $600 tax stimulus, HOWEVER I am a single mother and claimed my son on my federal taxes (and yes, I am the only one that claimed him). Will I receive the $300 seperately? Or should it have been included with my $600? Why did I not recieve it?
Additional Details
How much do you have to pay into taxes to receive the full $600.....cuz I paid quite a bit....

You could call the IRS, but I believe Lizzie is correct. You didn't earn enough (nor pay in enough) to receive the full $600 for filing as head-of-household with one dependent. Therefore you only received $300 (the minimum rebate for your filing status) and $300 for your one dependent.

ETA:

When you filed your taxes, did you get a refund of more than what you paid in? Most people do if they file single, head-of-household with one dependent. I get back way more than I ever pay in every year. If you're like me, and most others in this situation, you are only eligible for $300 because of it.

The people who are getting back the full $600, or anything over $300 who file single, are getting that much because their tax liability is higher. For example, my fiance filed single and paid in about $2600 last year. He was refunded $400 something. Since he paid in so much, he is receiving the full $600. (Based on the results of using the IRS calculator).

Because your tax liability was not enough to receive the maximum $600 payment for yourself. You got the minimum $300 for yourself and $300 for your son. People overlooked the UP TO $600...

Sounds like you only qualified for $300 for yourself, plus $300 for your son. The payment comes all at once, there isn't more coming. Unless you made over around $18,000 you wouldn't get more than you got.

You need to contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040. They will be your best resource for that question.

you must not of qualified for the whole 600 you recieved 300 for u and 300 for your son.. you recieve the whole refund at once not seperate

La Vie Boheme
The $600 could very well be $300 for you and $300 for him. You wont get anything separate.

Molly C
when you claim your children you only get 300 for yourself I know its dumb but same happened to me I have 2 kids and only get 900

You will receive it when you file your 2008 taxes
