It's got nothing to do with your SSN, as long as your SSN is valid for employment in the US without restriction. IF you are a US citizen or lawful permanent resident your SSN is unrestricted.

What you get will be based upon your PROJECTED income for 2008 as the payment is an advance payment of a new tax credit that will appear on 2008 returns. The IRS has yet to announce how they will determine that, or any other hard facts at this time. (It still hasn't been signed into law yet.)

The IRS will post information here: http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=177937,00.html as it becomes available. Ignore anything else that you hear and refer to the above link for the most up-to-date FACTUAL information available. There is still a ton of rumor and guesswork flying around. The IRS will be administering the program so get your FACTS from them, not the rumor mills.

It's 600 if you're single and 1200 if you're married. If you have kids, it's 300 for each kid you have. The checks should be in the mail in May or June.

Trish
Yes, it's true. Individuals will receive $600 and couples will receive $1200. If you have children you will receive $300 per child up to 4 children total.

brett_day2002
yes the rebate is true, hw much you get back is determined by the income you claimed on the most recent tax return. if you come in under the bracket you will get 600 back and if youy have any children it is 300 per child. if you are married it will be 1200 then 300 per child. they are going to start sending out the checks in may and it will take them about 10 weeks to get checks to everyone who is eligable

The final details have not yet been set in stone. Last I knew, Bush had not signed it yet, but promised he would.

$600 for a single person. $1,200 for a married couple. $300 per kid - no limit on the number of kids.

Certain people will only qualify for $300 each if they had over $3,000 of non-taxable income like Social Security or disability.

Certain other people will make too much to get the full rebate, and will only get a portion of the rebate.

Finally, those who make over the limit will not get any rebate at all.

You will have to file a 2007 tax return to get the rebate - but it will be a credit of some sort on your 2008 taxes, so it will have to be taken into account somewhere on your 2008 return.

Yes. $600 for individuals, $1200 for couples, $300 per kid for most income ranges. In the original plan, you only got a rebate if you paid taxes in. Now they've changed it so lower income families who don't pay in but made more than $3000 in 2007 will get $300.
I have not heard how they are determining the order they send them out in. They will start going out in May, after tax season.

Looks like as soon as President Bush signs things will be on a roll.Check out IRS.gov for the most updated information.
Hope this helps.

Marie
Thats what I heard too. I think it might have even increased. Not sure of the exact number, but now that Bush has made it so public he can not go back now.

a kinder, gentler me
Look it up in the news...it depends on how much you make, your filing status, dependents, etc...

By the way - the whole thing is a bad idea.

Bush came up with it to try and get everyone to forget that HE caused this downturn/recession, and to make the republicans look good in an election year.

If the democrats were smart, they would have killed it, but that would have been suicide in an election year.

So they're selling out future generations so they all can look good. And we all need the money too badly to do anything about it!

It has not been signed of by House yet but is expected to begin the mailing process by mid April - beginning of May and is being pushed to be in hands of the ones who receive it within 10 weeks. It is $600.00 for singles who made under $75,000 in 2007, $1200.00 for couples who made under $150,000 in 2007, plus an additional $300.00 for each child with no limit on children. It is based on your 2007 tax returns that you have/will be filing. Now this is an "up to" amount on each scenario so the actual amount you may receive is not available yet. Again it has been approved but has to be put on paper and then passed before actual details are available. (We are talking about the government so we may never have the answers too all our questions until we see the check in our mailbox with the amount they decided to give us)

Jami
its a proposal...so its nto definite....its 300$ for single ....and 600 for married......and then 300$ for each child you have......so say you are married and have 2 kids..you will get back1200$.........or single and have one kid......you will get back 600$.....

ss
there is a rebate and you will have to claim it as income and pay tax
