She cannot claim from the tax but she might, subject to her circumstances, be able to get some social benefits for the purpose.
She should contact social services and they will be able to advise her.

I don't think so. I think it's a requirement for them to live with her a certain amount of time during the year.That's why custodial parents get to claim the child even when the other parent pays support. She would need to provide over 50% of their needs to be able to claim them. However, I am not a lawyer or an accountant and my advice can't substitute for their expertise,so if you want to be extra sure call the IRS hotline and ask. |

Personally, I'm amazed that the Government dosn't send her a bill !
After all, the Child Support Agency is happy enough to extort cash out of the fathers, so why shouldn't the mothers pay ??
Until the 'fix' this insane system, why don't we all look after our neighbors kids ??? ... and get a nice fat cheque from the Government every week for doing so ??? |
