You only get back tax that was paid... so $32 is likely.. unless there's some sort of deuction you can make as a student.

Anyone making over $3000 in income should file a return, both federal and state. If you are a student chances are you will get all your taxes paid back. Being international I would seriously consider going to H & R Block at least for this year. The cost is probably around $50 and you can use this years tax return as a reference for future years.

nice_guy_usa_1234
Around what you paid in. Since i assume you have no kids and are not married, you will only get what you paid in. Maybe some EIC but not much. Are your parents claiming you? If so no EIC for you.

NOTE JOHN D if you really work at H&R BLOCK than that explains why you would tell him that he is getting 3000 back. You have no clue as to who is claiming him and even with EIC it would be no where close to 3000. So i doubt you work anywhere near taxes.

Be sure to file this year, because the federal government is giving back at least $300 to everyone who files in this country! It's part of the "stimulus package" that's already been approved by Congress and signed off by the President.

I paid $0 in income taxes for 2007(lots of deductions), but in addition to getting back all my withholdings, we're going to get back $1,200 this year ($300 each for me and my wife, plus $300 for each of my two kids). Don't miss out - this probably won't ever happen again!

If you want to make a deduction it depends on whether or not you are a dependent or independent, you may get a lot back if you are independent. If you are a dependent (under 24) About 32 dollars :)

To Nice_Guy: It doesn't matter what your parents claim you as (that only matters /for them/ ) It matters what you're considered and if you're under 24, don't have a baby, and you aren't married you are still considered dependent even if they aren't helping and even if you don't live with them :)

You are likely to get $3000 back. HOW do i know? I work at H&R Block
