Kayla LaBayla | Tax returns and tax refunds? |
I asked a question before about returns, if I had to file them, and everyone said yes. I got the form sent to me today.
How do I figure out how much money I should receive back in refunds?
I know someone said that if it was under $4500 I should get some back. Is this correct?
And What about SS tax and Medicare tax? Do I get money back from that too? Additional Details My mom will help me with the form.
But it says I only made $3135.12 this year, and My fedral income tax withheld is $201.32, and then SS tax withheld is $194.38 and Medicare tax withheld is $45.46.
Should I get my $200 back since I made less than $4500? |

You will not get the SS tax or the medicare tax back. You will get the federal withholding back. You may get an earned income credit if you are between 25 and 65. You may also receive the earned income credit and you have children and meet all of the qualifications. I am posting a link for you that will give you a better estimate on how much of a refund your will receive.

since you made below $6000 you will file the 1040 EZ and you should be able to claim the withheld portion of your income back. |

I highly recommend you get some tax software such as turbo tax. This will help you determine which forms to use to get your maximum refund. Basically you need to fill out a 1040 form, but it gets complicated fast because there are 3 versions of the form, for different situations. Tax software is your best bet.
No, you won't ever get any refund from the amount that you paid for social security taxes and medicare taxes. That money is gone. |

Your best bet is to have your taxes prepared for you. Unless you have time to read up on tax codes and such, then I'd let the pros do it. |

Here is the 1040 EZ form. I'm not sure you qualify for this form. Take a look at it. There are government websites that should help you fill these out. You need to fill out a federal form and a state form.

Good luck. |

I went to this website and put in my info it's pretty accurate in what to expect back. I've used it the past 2 years and it's been pretty good. As far as the medicare and ss that dosnt go back to you untill your 65 or retirement age then you'll get a check every month after. I don't think they ever really give all that we tax payers pay on this but who knows how this gov. works... |
