The usual extended filing deadline is Oct 15th. However, if he doesn't owe anything according to the IRS estimates, he can ignore filing and the IRS will do nothing at all.
You cannot get ANY information on whether or not he has filed unless it's for a year that you filed a JOINT return.
He may have already filed and had his refund offset. It can take 6 months or more from the time his refund is offset before you would see the money.
After getting hit with a couple of offsets, many deadbeat parents figure out that if they structure their withholdings to owe a bit at filing time there will never be another offset. This is perfectly legal and they won't be facing any penalties if they owe less than $1,000 when they file.
Your only recourse is to keep the heat turned up in the courts to force him to pay. The courts can seize bank accounts, garnish wages, pull drivers licenses, block passports, etc. for unpaid child support. |

Truthfully, if he is due a refund, he can choose to never file them.
And the stimulus checks were only available to people who filed the return.
Sounds like you need a lawyer to petition the court to force him to file.
And, with a further extension, the last filing date is October 15.

There are a number of issues that you raise. First, there is no way short of going to court and having the court order him to produce his return that you can determine if he has filed a return for 2007. Secondly there are a number of things he can do to stall or get around you receiving any refund or rebate. If he has filed it is common for it to take months for that money make its way back to you, particularly if he has remarried. The best thing is to consider it a blessing when if ever you do get anything from his refund/rebate. |

With an extension, the person can file up to Oct 15 - but it can take up to another 6 months before you see the money - this assumes, of course, that he actually HAS a refund. |

You cannot get access to anyone else's tax return. You need to pursue the child support through the courts. |

You cannot find out about anybody else's tax return. All returns are confidential, even an ex-spouse's.
With the 6 month extension, he has until October 15. But since he knows he will not get a refund, he may never file. Lots of guys who owe child support so they know they never will get a refund don't even bother filing. Lots of other guys who can't get their refund make sure that their employer doesn't withhold enough to get a refund so when they file their taxes, they owe a little instead of getting a refund. Either way, if he doesn't want you to get his refund, you never will. |
