The IRS is spending $42 Million to tell people they might get a rebate....?
The IRS says it doing so to inform people that they must file a tax return in order to be eligible for a rebate.
Is this expenditure reasonable since the press and news media have been saying the same thing for weeks?
If these people are so out of touch, do they deserve the rebate?
Just another example of wasted money. If people are that out of touch they do not deserve a rebate. It is all over the news. So, let's spend our tax money to let people know they are getting a rebate of our money. Great makes sense right?

I'm glad and I can't wait to get my letter in the mail. I have told many of my co-workers, etc., about the tax rebate. It amazes me that so many people do not know about this tax rebate!

Consider it an attempt at idiot proofing although their are some idiots who will still manage to be uninformed.

That's our problem with todays' politics, most people who are voting are not in touch.

$42 million sounds like a bunch. But when you divide that sum but the number of returns filed, it works out to what, .75 per return?
Somehow, that doesn't cause me to hit the panic button as compared to the spending habits of our US Congress. When you make that comparison, it doesn't even hit the radar screen.

I heard about 3 weeks ago that it's not really a "rebate".
That they're taking it out of next year's returns. So.. it's like you're getting 2 years of taxes instead of 1... 6 months apart.
