keepmynameoutchamout... | The government has no right to tax our income.? |
Any thoughts? Additional Details It is impossible to deal effectively with the freedom-destroying menace of socialism by curbing its appetite for taxation. Only the complete abolition of personal income tax and the abolition of taxation on freely traded goods and products is sufficient to the very urgent task of setting individuals free to enjoy their lives as they wish, without causing harm to others. God gave to each and every one of us the gift of life, tax-free. Therefore, those who derive unearned interest or levy charges on the proceeds of that gift stand condemned not only in this world, but also the next. |

Think Richly™

There is a saying..
"There are only two things that are certain in life:
1. Death
2. Taxes"
When America first came into being, the colonists rebelled against the British empire because there were abusive taxes. That was called the Boston Tea Party.
I personally think that minimal taxes are necessary to support the municipal services provided by the city such as: police protection, fire protection, schools, hospitals, drinking water, sewage disposal, roads and highways, bridges, railroads, subways, buses, seaports and airports, etc. The city does depend on taxes to pay for these services. Without these taxes, where will they find the money from? So, I do support minimal taxes that support our standard of living.
What I don't support is excessive taxation or abusive taxes. But that depends on how you define what is necessary, and what is excessive. That is where the gray line is - it is hard to determine. I think that federal taxes in addition to the state and city taxes are running on the borderline abusive. So are social security taxes and medicare taxes. We are going to choke on these taxes when the baby-boomers retire in droves. That is a 5 to 1 ratio: Five retirees supported by one taxpayer. That will be a BIG problem.
Another thing: Taxation without Representation... That to me is wrong! This is one of the reasons why the American colonists revolted against the British empire. |

Yes....yes they do.
Title 26 - Internal Revnue Code
There are many people whom have claimed similar things. They are now getting free room and board from the Feds.....and a swanky new orange jumpsuit.
The Fairtax was and still is DOA (Dead on Arrival). The one representative that supports it has bigger issues now. His links to Jack Abramhoff. |

Well, interesting concept. First let me say that without income tax our government would not survive. How would we fund all the services needed such as roads, schools, hospitals, mail, etc etc. The list is truly endless. I do agree however that it can get out of control and generally most of the higher class population pays little or no taxes. If you take the time to read the IRS tax code and look for loopholes many taxes are avoidable - most people are just too lazy to do that. |

If you think the Government has no right to tax our income you're dead wrong. Just about every frivolous argument has already been made, IN COURT. If you have one that hasn't yet been argued in court, go ahead and go to tax court. (You have to go to tax court unless you want to pay the tax first and sue for a refund) if the latter then you can go to Ct of Claims or District CT. Either way you'll lose, the government will still get their money, and your attorney will laugh all the way to the bank with more of your cash! |

The courts have decided that they do. |

Yes they do have the right. The several states of the USA voted to amend the US Constitution over 90 years ago so that direct taxation can be levied without apportionment to the states - ie so that it became an individual responsibility. Title 26, USC is the legislative enactment (otherwise known as the Internal Revenue Code).
After a few victories for protestors in the early days, the courts have gone against tax protestors. Anyone marketing schemes to circumvent the law is running the risk of going to jail. |

Let's see:
AMENDMENT XVI
Passed by Congress July 2, 1909. Ratified February 3, 1913.
Note: Article I, section 9, of the Constitution was modified by amendment 16.
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.
The guys over at the IRS just love [sarcasticly speaking] this sort of talk--yep, they've a right, and law, to tax our income and almost every year the courts reaffirm that right and obligation by sending folks like you to jail--not for talk, for not paying taxes or telling others not to pay taxes. Oh, boy, I hope you delete the question for the sake of the fools you fool into not paying their dues. |

In 1954 the government used to get over half of their tax income from corporations. Now it is close to 4% while personal income tax has steadily risen to fill the void. Time to form a citizens lobby to start taxing the big corporations what they owe. |

Without government there would be anarchy. If you think you should not pay taxes, do not use ANYTHING the government provides - don't call 911 if someone breaks into your house or you are having a heart attack. Don't drive anywhere because the government built the roads, etc.
Nobody likes paying taxes, but they are a neccessary evil. The republicans are living in fantasy land right now running the debt up so high.
I knew someone like that once, he got a credit card with a $700 limit and immediately bought a $700 stereo. A month later when he got the bill he was appalled that they would dare ask him for money. "What right do they have to take my money!!?!?" he asked in disgust. |
