One person wrote there is no debtors prison, that part is true if you owe personal loans other than the IRS. However, you can serve time in the federal prison like Leona Hemsley did for not paying taxes. Don't fool yourself. |

There is actually some truth to that, b/c they can never put you in jail for not paying your taxes. However, if you don't pay your taxes (given that you have earned income), you would continue to owe money to the IRS, which would continue to accrue interest & penalties and at some point of time they'll obtain a court order in order to garnish your wages. However, there is no such thing as debtor's prisoner. I just don't see how anyone would want to do that. |
