I'm in this same boat. My last name begins with "C" and I got the correct amount of stimulus credit last year and there is "0" entered on the rebate recovery line pf my return. So, the theory about the rebate recovery and the alphabetical payment theory is not correct in my case.
I think there is just a glitch somewhere and we are all being delayed another week. I did see an article where some people may have had the rebate recovery amount entered wrong, but there was nothing on my return that needed to be "checked & recalculated" by the IRS. It was a straight forward 1040A, just like all the other years I have filed. This is the first year that I have ever not gotten my refund on the first direct deposit date.
I did get my MI state refund, by direct deposit on Thursday, just as expected. |

The first two letters of my last name is A B.. i havent recieved jack! so i really doubt theyre doing it by last names. as for the RR i have it blank. so that theory cant be. ive checked over calculations and no correction is needed. |

i and some friends also were expecting our refunds to be direct deposited today and were very disappointed to find out that we had been pushed back a week and will not see anything until next friday (if we are lucky). the big problem is with the rebates. we did our taxes on TaxAct and did not realize we had to keep going back and adjusting the rebate amount every time we entered a dependent, etc. so, the IRS had to fix our returns due to this and now we have to sit and wait. it would have been nice if the IRS had sent out some sort of rebate reminder for tax filing or if TaxAct had listed that we had to manually adjust the rebate credit before e-filing. |

It may have more to do with your SS number than your last name.
We have a "D" and ours was changed... But we have friends with a "D" also and they got theirs...
Either way, it's frustrating!!! We had a camper on hold thinking our check would be here and lost it because it wasn't.

I don't think that's the answer. Our last name starts with E and no deposit today. And I don't think it's just the rebate recovery credit either. We aren't entitled to any credit because we got the full amount last year. |

just got off the phone with an IRS csr and was told that refunds are being delayed because of the Economic Stimulus Plan from last year. Those that were expecting a deposit today(and didnt get it) will not get it until next Friday. If you checked wrong info about the ECR, that delayed it.
I personally didnt get a rebate last year and checked no, so that delayed my money.
