I am using my last paycheck to claim my taxes with. Does anyone know where I can find my employer id number??? |

Check stubs don't in general have the employer ID on them. You will either need to contact your employer to find out the ID number or if you were employed there last year, you can check on your W-2 from last year. |

The EIN will be on your W-2. You aren't legally allowed to file your tax return without it. And if you mail your return you have to mail a copy of the W-2 with it. The IRS isn't accepting efiles yet anyway. |

You MUST wait for your W-2, you cannot file a legal return without it. The FEIN isn't the only thing on the W-2 that you'll need that isn't on your paystub; you also need the numbers and codes from boxes 7 - 14.
The IRS isn't accepting e-filed returns until the middle of the month anyway, so there's no rush at the moment. |

You don't have to rush. The IRS won't accept any returns until January 15th. If you try to e-file, the return will be rejected. If you mail it in, they won't do anything with it until January 15th anyway. That gives you more than enough time to ask someone in Payroll for the FEIN number.
In the meantime, you can calculate your taxes from your paystub, and it will probably be close. But you should, at the very least, request actual numbers from someone in your payroll department. Otherwise, they might be claiming slightly different numbers (often because of gifts you earned in the workplace, like mugs and tickets, that they have to put a dollar value on and include in your income on the W-2).
Many employers won't give you the numbers early, but you can always ask. I have filed in the past right on January 15th, but I was self-employed so I already had numbers ready. I also had a year when I didn't get my W-2 until March and I e-filed off of my paystub. If there ends up being a little bit of a discrepany, you can file an amended return on a form 1040-U. Don't do it often, but you can do it if there's a gross discrepancy. |

Generally, the FID or EIN (really the same number) is not included on the paystub.
You would either ask your employer for the number or wait for the W-2.
Employers have until Jan. 31 of the following tax year to issue the W-2's so you may not receive it until sometime in Feb. |

Check your last paycheck stub. |

It is risky to file using your paystub instead of the W-2. If you are incorrect about either the amt of income or taxes withheld, your return can be held up for months. If you are absolutely 100% sure of these amounts as confirmed by your payroll ofc or co accountant..then go ahead & file a paper return. You cant e-file until Jan. 11th. |

Ask your employer, it will be on your W-2 when you get it or if you have one from last year it was on that. |
