Turbo tax direct deposit.......say it ain't so...........!?
I did my 2007 taxes thru turbo tax and e-filed. I had my fees deducted from my refund and then the rest was direct deposited into my bank account. I am hearing that if you did your taxes this way, your rebate check will come by mail and not direct deposited!!! Please say this isn't so.....and if it is it's a bunch of "bull****"! Come on, what the heck difference does it make,if your tax returns were direct deposited, your rebate should be too......I was really counting on that direct deposit this week.........

When the IRS deposited your refund, they deposited into an account at a third-party bank where your fees for having your taxes done and also the fees due to the bank for that service are first deducted, then the rest was disbursed to you either by direct deposit, or by check.

The only direct deposit info the IRS has on your return is for the third-party bank, not your personal account, so they have to mail your rebate check.

The difference it makes is that the account info the preparer actually sent to the IRS was THEIR account, not yours, so the IRS doesn't have your info - they aren't just being mean to you. What can they do, just send it to the preparers and hope they can figure out who it goes to? OK, here's a rebate for Joe Smith.......

I did the same and believe we'll have to wait for a check through the mail. Guess we're both screwed....

I used Turbo Tax also thinking I was getting direct deposit for my tax rebate by may 16th, yesterday I found out that if we had fees deducted from our tax refund we get a paper check..so looks like I have to wait until July now..big downer oh well

The only problem with this is... Turbo tax aka. H&R Block, deposited the refund into your account. The IRS deposited it to them just as if you were getting a refund loan from them. I'm sorry to say but you will be looking to the mail for your rebate check, only at least it is coming earlier than originally stated. You can keep an eye out but i don't think it's coming DD.

Roger C
What if I used my debit/credit card to pay for the turbotax fee, does this still mean I will get a check in the mail as well. Even though my tax return was a direct deposit?

Chrystal M
Nope, it's coming by paper unfortunately. Hopefully you have a small SSN so you will get it quickly.

What difference does it make? You're tax refund was not direct deposited, at least not from the IRS' standpoint. Your money was deposited into Santa Barbara Bank & Trust's account.

So if you really want your rebate to go to the same place, it would go to the wrong place. :)
